Trip to France

We only got up to 1000m for sure, maybe a bit higher.

Last night here in Payerne we had som scrotes making all kinds of noise, doors slamming, loud music talking loud and shouting near the van, it started about 11.30 and was still going on at 3am, I was very tempted to remonstrate with them but what type of arseholes are like that.

No plan as usual this morning, stay tuned for more from idiots abroad   :giggle::giggle::giggle:

Happens occasionally. Were you on an Aire? Very rarely that happens on the Aires, they soon get shifted if it does.

1000m? Thats no good. Challenge number 2. Get high enough for a snowball fight and photograph it! :D

Yes it was a aire but in a town centre next to a sports complex, it had water and cassette emptying etc, skateboarding park being built right next to the camping car section.

Sum pix.

We've decided that despite all the fantastic chalet type houses and massive wooden bars, and stupidly oversized mountains that we quite like the place really, the road network is well weird, similar to the EU but different enough to give you heart stopping moments at some very odd junctions, bloody great pumpkin the road and totally invisible speed bumps, not to mention speed limit changes like a flaming Yoyo even out in the sticks for no apparent reason so you get a little paranoid especially when all I have is Google maps to tell me my speed, the limits on it are way out about 25% of the time too, so signage is important to watch.

Still no nearer those mountains though! :D
Of course we are you furry eared rock God, 200k nearer now, so much to stop and look at everywhere we go, love it here though, best ever so far, walking is not good but doing as much as I can.

We are here now blue dot top right and some planes against the mountains.

Yeah but you need to get in em!! Looks like you are at Geneva or just outside. Nice city. Not very big. Lovely fountain. Thats about all I remember.

you are a stones throw from Annecy now and the proper Alps beyond. If you get there then there is a cracking drive up the other side up the Col de La Forclaz.

Check it out. Ive only been up on the bike but its a decent road from memory. Don't remember any hairy bits.

Heading south, you can't go wrong really. I'd be getting straight up into the mountains, Bonneville, then La Clusaz.
Whichever way it'll be decent.

Thats where I told him to go. Its on the Route des Grande Alpes. I seem to remember above La Clusaz there was some cracking free parking spots. Fantastic views up there. Here's one. A lot of the ski resort car parks are good this time of Year Kev or certainly in the summer at least as they are often empty.

Yeah we've stayed at those before around Avimore etc, quite bleak though.
Have a look at the images in that link. Certainly not bleak. Keep an eye on the weather forecast though. No point in going up there if its low cloud or mist. Its not that high up though I dont think. Some cracking places around there and some half decent Aires I seem to remember. Some of the ski resorts themselves are worth a look around.

This is another good one Kev if you want some fab views of Mont Blanc. Again, one for good weather. Its also a place where the paragliders launch. Twisty ride up but we got up no bother. I think there is a small charge but I seem to remember not having to pay when we were there.

Only the high resorts like Val Thorens are bleak. The rest are well below tree line and often, (but not always) the resorts are pretty nice places.
I'm a bit of a sucker for ski resorts though cause they bring back memories, like, I slept in that gutter. :ROFLMAO:
