No MOT is OK 🤔

My wage packet went straight to wife and then our wages went straight into the joint bank account so my wife do all the financial stuff.

I used to do crazy hours, very often away from home, 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week so the bloody shops and buisnesses were not readily available to me.

Better than a hole in the wall, we put ours in, it had a VERY expensive gas fire in the lounge, over £3k in the 90s but it never worked properly, so we had it out and put in a nice white marble one, the gas fire in that is ferocious and cost a mint to run but it's only ever on for 30 minutes until the CH kicks in.

This is the one which was in the bungalow.

No MOT Doesn't invalidate the insurance,
(insurance companies have a duty to maintain at least 3rd party cover )

I find that statement laughable I am being threatened of insurance cancellation on my car by AIB because my last insurance company keep saying they will send details of my years of NCBs but don’t so AIB is cancelling my insurance in 2 days despite having paid in full and have had my Motorhome/ camper van insured with them for 6/7 years without having any claims so they have no duty to maintain anything.😡😡

There's usually a confirmation of ncb in the renewal notice sent out by last year's insurance. If not I email and ask for it so I can get competing quotes. So I've got proof in my mitts before going elsewhere

Unfortunately that was the problem they didn’t send me a renewal quote they say they sent it during the postal strike as a reason I never received it and they have promised 3 times to email and repost it and haven’t so far spoke to them yesterday with another promise of an email so far nothing.

Who are 'they' that are incompetent?

Laughable as you may find it ....AFAIK and unless things have changed recently ...

IF You have a policy in place on a vehicle and you have an accident in that vehicle causing injury to another person OR their property ....
Having NO current MOT on your vehicle will not stop the insurance company paying the 3rd party out as they have a legal obligation to maintain 3rd party cover ....

It does mean that they WILL use every means at their disposal not to pay you out for your injuries/damages and will also likely pursue you through legal means to recover all their costs .

Obviously no claims/undeclared material changes to a vehicle from standard etc etc are a whole different ball game and likely subject to the usual rules that insurance companies work to .

Third party ins should be added to fuel or charging units and covered by the gov, if you want fully comp then a arrangment with a ins co could be sorted.

We passed a EV being charged up a side street this morning, I said to Liz how long before we start seeing theft of EV chargers and even the electric but plugging in another car.

with EV charging, the cable is locked into place either end usually to prevent that I believe.

You get that happening with EHU leads at campsites apparently - people taking out one lead to plug theirs in, or swapping them over. If EHU Metered Use gets more commonplace, campsites will need to provide locking points and Motorhome owners will need to find a way to stop their lead being moved over to another van.

I’ve not had an MOT on any of my vehicles, driven all over the U.K. and Europe for years without any problems.

so does the EV driver lock it when they leave the car on charge David?
