NO MORE OVERNIGHT STAYS IN SCARBOROUGH

Prior to getting a BB we always parked on Queen's Parade, overlooking RAD and North Bay, where a free disc from a shop or hotel gave us 2 hours parking. I think that remains available overnight and is a much quieter road.
Coaches and overnight occupancy prohibited at any time the signs say on Queens Parade. Make of that what you will..

I'm a motorhomer.Have been for many years and I have seen many of the inconsiderate "new campers" making themselves at home with no consideration for others!! You can only thank them for these prolems!! Look at NC500!! Cassette toilets emptied into the ground or the Lochs.Won't be long before we get banned everywhere!!! Cars will always be welcome!!!! Their dogs mess doesn't seem to matter

Yup. The unfortunate fallout from two recent and very large life-changing events - one beginning with P, the other B ;) 😁 🥳

Neither have I. The worse thing I have seen is emptying cassettes into public toilets. Followed by to many vans being parked up when restrictions are in place. Never seen an inappropriate barby by one of us, but have twice seen car owners doing so, once on a table which they damaged in Kingsbarns in Fife. As for rubbish being left seen plenty of that by others, and we have put it into the bin. We spent a night in Berwick and had to clear up the mess left by youngsters on the Sunday morning before leaving. But guess what, we’re banned from that carpark in Berwick now. As for antisocial behaviour I swear I have never witnessed that by us, but many times from non motorhome owners in carparks, including, aggressive driving, loud music till the early hours, drunkenness, vandalising toilets, etc.
How about this one around the start of Spring this year on Loch Lockie. Think they were in a hired van but not 100% sure, carried everything down to waters edge and set up for 4 of them to have breakfast.

I laughed about it, reminded me of my gran going for a drive in the car when I was young and she would set up table and deck chairs for a picnic 😁

Sadly I and others have witnessed it (barbecues, fire pits, rubbish dumping, table/chairs/furniture etc) at Scarborough and elsewhere. I accept that others may not have seen this type of behaviour, but it happens.

Yes, it does, but the only things that are worthy of complaint are rubbish dumping and fire pits. The other behaviours are transient and don’t affect the environment. Viva Onslo! 😉 😂

Perthaps you should go look at the meaning of anti social behaviour! Maybe take a look at this? The second two points in the "What is" section. Both can apply to our community.

Most certainly, I am definitely anti social, I can't do with other people for more than a few minutes, I don't go to Liz's family events, nowt wrong with the people but I never have been able to do small talk.

We have family (who are dealing with my late father in laws estate that are milking it! They had power of attorney and have kept everyone else in the dark. There is a house to sell, but no one knows what is happening! I have reminded them that they should have a full set of accounts at the end of the process. The panic in their eyes!

Nah, we don't do family stuff either...

Edit: And you are not anti social, you are just selective who you deal with.

Many will feel that putting furniture out and taking up spaces is also worthy of complaint. Yes, it happens.

But it’s not just about what you deem worthy of complaint. The fact is, when motorhomers break the rules, they feed those who want to ban us.

The more you accept rule breaking, the more you support and enable bans.

That's why I hate staying in these places. I like to get a small table and couple of chairs out and have a couple of beers in the evening and yes, cook outside. After all, I'm supposed to be on holiday, not confined to quarters!

Rob simple solution, turn up in your car and do what the hell you like, nobody will notice and no one will complain, Job done, have a beer on me🍻🍻

Motorhomes are permitted to park in designated spaces in my town, next to a grassy area facing the beach. It's a nice spot. If we didn't live here, we would go there.

The car park is shared with car users. In the summer, plenty of them put out chairs and so on, next to their cars. A motorhomer can't do that. Motorhomers can, for example, put their chairs out on the beach, but there isn't a prescribed distance where sitting is or isn't allowed. It's a daft rule.

So if the motorhomer and the car user swapped sitting spaces, so the motorhomer put their chair next to the car; and the car user put their chair next to the motorhome, it seems nobody is doing anything wrong.

Let's make it even sillier. Let's say the motorhomer uses the car owner's chair beside their van. And the car owner uses the motorhomer's chair next to their car. What if the chairs were the same design? What a calamity! The motorhoming police would be having nightmares, not just about enforcing it, but how to source all the red tape they need.

To get back to being sensible, I'm with @mariesnowgoose . The real problem is people who leave a mess or damage - it's got nothing to do with the vehicle they are in. And it's frustrating that local authorities, and some members of the public, can't or won't see that.

Exactly, the same as me. I want to do these things, so I go somewhere where it’s allowed. I don’t knowingly and deliberately break the rules, selfishly helping to get it banned for others.

But it’s not just about mess or damage. There’s a bigger picture.

I remember when this was first mooted in Scarborough, and “everyone” (speech marks, so that the pedantic don’t jump on “everyone” 😂) said what a great idea, we don’t want a campsite, with facilities, staying a week at a time, cooking and sitting outside. So the council introduced it and suddenly, some people clearly do want that and insist on it despite the rules being very clear.

Their entitled behaviour has directly contributed to this ban, and those defending it aren’t really helping our cause. Because sadly, I’ve seen some of our comments reposted online, with campaign groups saying “see, they are saying they don’t need to follow rules”.

I really don’t understand why some are so willing to support rule breaking and enable the bans.

I think my reply illustrates I don't support rule breaking where the rule is global. What I object to is that a different rule would apply to me if I were driving a different vehicle.
