NO MORE OVERNIGHT STAYS IN SCARBOROUGH

Unfortunately this year I have seen it as well and a few with small tents behind their vans on the grass.. As has been suggested give them enough rope and they will hang themselves, but it didn't need to be that way.
What was suggested was leaving rubbish, or Barbie’s in built up locations, and anti social behaviour. My idea of antisocial would be drunkenness, loutish behaviour, loud music etc. Small tents behind their vans is selfish behaviour, and I have witnessed plenty of that. I saw a van with an awning out in Elie in Fife, in the Ruby bay carpark. This really angered me so much, that I left and headed for Craigmead instead. Hand on heart, I have never witnessed inappropriate use of Barbie’s, drunkenness, dumping rubbish, loud music, or anti social behaviour by us. But I have witnessed all of these by others.
But to be honest with 11 times our population, Englands issues are far worse than ours.
We don’t WC in England, therefore I rely on what I hear rather than what I see. But I happen to beleive things could be managed better. Carte Blanche bans, are helpful to no one, and harmful to the situation that currently exists in our largest most populous home nation.

Things like this from around the country don't help us either.

At the risk of drawing untold ire from the righteous on the forum, I personally find that report pretty amusing. 🤭😜

In all fairness it takes some balls - or possibly a total lack of awareness and/or selfishness/entitlement (delete or add as appropriate) - to park where they did and then actually come back for some more aggro later! 👌

After reading it I'm seeing a vision of all the outraged Mrs (and Mr!) Buckets who live there in my head and Onzo sitting outside the van on the green there in front of the posh houses with his string vest on having a barbie and a few cans etc. just generally sticking two fingers up ... 😛:ROFLMAO:😂 ❤️ 🤭🙃

PS. that's quite a big, posh van too, btw! Wasn't one of you lot, was it?! 😱😁

Yeah I found it quite funny as well and its just one van. An actual article about one van parking on a green!! Slow news day in Brighton or click bait? :D

The regular media (especially local rags, although the nationals can do an even better job and, unfortunately, have a bigger reach) together with the pain-in-the-*rse that is "social meedja" are extremely good at stirring up totally unnecessary anger & resentment amongst the populace 🤷‍♀️

It's all about how many views - and if you're in any doubt, always follow the money(makers') trail... ;)

Shocking attitude you should be ashamed of yourself.

No wonder we have issues with attitudes like that.

Well there are a few big , posh persons on here

Sam old same old, and it’s becoming so boring to read.
So they have issues with poorly behaved motorhomes, who feel they have to justify themselves in how much they contribute to the local economy. Meanwhile Scarborough is awash with cars as far as the eye can see, and of course they are all well behaved never causing any issues, and contribute massively to the local economy.
And none of these car drivers ever start fires for a wee Barbie, do they now. ;)

So they reckon they have to take “measures” because they have been inundated with complaints about us, here we go again. They could have limited the amount of these anti social poorly behaved motorhome owners, who can’t behave properly, and do little for the local economy. But what do they do, they completely ban us from parking overnight.

Possibly we should all start to complain about car owners who leave all their rubbish, or dog walkers who leave their dogs mess. Would this lead to a car ban, and a ban on folk walking their dogs, of course not, and neither should it. ;)

I'm a motorhomer.Have been for many years and I have seen many of the inconsiderate "new campers" making themselves at home with no consideration for others!! You can only thank them for these prolems!! Look at NC500!! Cassette toilets emptied into the ground or the Lochs.Won't be long before we get banned everywhere!!! Cars will always be welcome!!!! Their dogs mess doesn't seem to matter

I've only read P10 of this thread as I've been away on holiday. One of the places I went was Scarborough :).
We parked FoC on Royal Albert Drive, courtesy of my wife's Blue Badge. It was £10.80 for upto 24 hours and there was no mention of no overnight parking.
Later we went to the Esplanade to visit the South Cliff Gardens and there were signs there prohibiting "campervans" (I think) between certain hours (23-07?).

Those signs may get erected on RAD later and I can understand why, given the number of vans parked there earlier in the year. Personally I wouldn't stop along a busy road overnight BUT I wrote to the Council opposing their decision.

Previously SBC wanted to ban MHs because it would affect people's views but the only residents there are gulls and so they allowed us that freedom. Did "we" abuse it? Were SBC naïve in not allocating a number of identified spots or did they fail to enforce rules about the number of spaces which could be occupied? What significant difference does it make whether a car is parked for 24h or a leisure vehicle? Hopefully no-one emptied black waste illegally because SBC provided facilities for correct disposal: if people dumped unreasonably, were they detected and punished?

Sadly, perhaps the few have spoiled it for the majority?

Gordon

Prior to getting a BB we always parked on Queen's Parade, overlooking RAD and North Bay, where a free disc from a shop or hotel gave us 2 hours parking. I think that remains available overnight and is a much quieter road.
