New car

Looks very nice Bill, the car sales world is a bit of a mystery to most of us, dealers get deals to shift new stock but not used possibly, the outgoing and previous foresters were very good cars and were expected to have a rough life I hope this proves to be the same.

It looks okay in primer but what colour did you settle on? ;) ;)

If you are looking for such a large car they are a great buy.
But getting in and out of my garage would have been a challenge Kev.
But my car is an off road 4 wheel drive SUV with exactly the same engine as the forester.

My only thought was possibly they were going to pre register it in March, and instead of registering to themselves, they will register it to myself, who knows.
Obviously I am delighted that goes without saying.

We were excited last July when we bought the MG3 Trophy+ that didn't last long, it's crap and so is the dealer network, ours is a self-charging hybrid, as we didn't want to have to charge it up, it works, but it's very badly designed as is the nanny software we have foisted on us that no one asked for, it's not a bad car to drive when the software keeps out of the way.

This car comes with a six hundred page manual, a three hundred page manual for the integrated media system, and a safety manual on the lithium battery.
But for me anything that assists with safety must be good, and this car comes with more safety features than any other car in its class. Hence why it’s one of the safest cars on the road, you name it, and it’s got it. And with my dotage not to far away I need all the help I can get :ROFLMAO:

I agree, what we didn't like was the crap they gave us when we showed interest, oh you can tailor it how you like or turn it off etc, and yes you can but it is a real PITA finding all the right screens and turning bits off, and if you decide to use some of the twiddly bits they are downright dangerous, such as the ACC which brakes at shadows literally, Liz bent to look in the glovebox one day and it saw a shadow of a tree and braked hard, hitting her head on the dash, and the lane assist is one we have to turn off as it's all country lanes around here and most only have a central white lines so it's happy to steer you into the ditch if it sees a car coming the other way and tries to avoid it as it's over the white line despite us having plenty of room, it also misreports the speed limits, sometimes showing me it's 100 limit so we assume we've jumped over the water.

The difference a few £k makes.

Oh yeah manual is online only.

Anyone buying now will get a good deal as cars are not selling, except used ones, was at my local wilsons auction last week and had a long chat with a dealer chap who filled me in on who things are going right now.
He explained that used cars at auction are almost at dealer forecourt prices as demand is high and i would have little chance of snatching a bargain.
He also said a good chance snatching a new car well under ticket price as dealers are on there knees begging for sales.
Secont he said no one is buying electric & dont buy a hybread as you still have to spend money on service items like filters oil etc/
What he aslo said was buy petrol as new diesels are over comlicated and service costs are high, from what im seeing he is correct.
So a new bargain is out there if you are daft enuff to spent the famileys inheritance on something that will burn money like wildfire.

For personal reasons I won’t go into figures, but yesterday I walked out of the showroom with a brand new car for almost the same price as the pre registered car below. My car is identical in every way to the one below except it’s in the showroom and is unregistered. So how did all happen well I don’t know, maybe someone on here can explain what happened.

I was negotiating for the car below, my main goal was to get three years free servicing that they were offering on other cars but not on the one I wanted. I had decided against the forester for various reasons.
Getting it in and out of my garage would have been difficult.
The interior was dated, hence the new model just out.
I wanted leather and a sunroof, but the model I had been considering meant £590 road tax. But as I said it was too large for my needs.
I don’t need such a large car with more gizmos than the space shuttle.
The car I chose had everything and more I wanted.

So anyway after a bit of haggling the deal was done, I got my three years servicing, mats, and a full tank. We agreed on a trade in figure. I was feeling pretty good with myself, quite happy with the deal I had done. Then comes the bombshell.

He starts playing with his keyboard looking at his screen then announces I think I can get you a better deal. Not something I expect to hear from a salesman. I will have to get Subaru to ok this, I will call her now. So he leaves me for about five minutes and comes back with this better deal.

Ok Bill how about this you pay an additional £110 and you can have the identical brand new unregistered car right behind you. I will register it March 1 on a 75 plate. I was gobsmacked, I of course agreed. Obviously this has cost his company nothing, I can only assume that Subaru are covering this. Or possibly one of you can explain why this happened. Anyway come next month I will be driving a brand new Subaru Crosstrek not the one below, which is identical to the one I will be driving.
I took some photos of both cars whilst there.
And I got my napa leather, and a sunroof after all :)

Nice car Bill. I’m sure you’ll get on very well with it.
The car world is more about shifting units than figures. Always buy a car at the end of the month when the sales team are needing to hit monthly targets. The cash figures don’t matter as much as the cars sold per month.

When I changed my car from a Citroen DS5 Auto Diesel to a Vauxhall Corsa Manual Petrol, I joined a Corsa Forum and the number of people there who told me I will hate the Corsa as such a comedown and difference to the DS5 (Corsa cost me £50 more than a 3+ year older DS5).
Corsa will be 8 years old next month and still have it and no intention to change :)

For it being the bottom of the range the R soul is neatly packaged😏
I may visit my local Kia dealer tomorrow for a test drive. 👍

It won’t be R, as it ain’t out yet, but driving the Soul should give me an idea of road handling until the R is released
