French crit air

Was planning on visiting Paris later this year so took a look if I could drive into Paris (used to stay at a cheap campsite in the Bois de Boulogne back in my hitchhiking days, and it's still there though not so cheap now) and I'd only be able to drive in at the weekend or after 8pm. But looking at the website, you can apply for a 24 hour pass to drive in the zone, just tried it and it's given me a pass for the dates I asked for - it's a bit of a faff, but no more than getting a Critair sticker, and you can get 24 passes a year, which is more than I'd need. I don't think anyone would get fined just going round Paris on the A86, but what with diversions and the like it might be worth getting the pass if it's free - they didn't charge me and didn't ask for any bank or card details.

If I read it right, anyone in a non-compliant vehicle would only receive an educational warning in 2025. Also, the A86 is specifically excluded from the ZFE where it passes through the latter.
I visited Paris in 2023, but I'm left with Versailles (just outside the ZFE) and Notre Dame to visit, so the 24-hour pass might be a useful safety measure.

You do know about the A86 Duplex tunnel?

Hi, to TJBi, I have just tried to apply for the 24 hr certificate to go through Rouen but it will not accept the format of an English registration. Dont know if there is way around this?

Hi @pamjon ,

I have just tried entering a UK registration and had no problem.
I don't know whether you are using the web page in French or whether you are using a page translated by a translation engine, but you need to select Type d'immatriculation HORS FRANCE. I then entered a registration in the format AA## AAA (with the space, the ## being the year number). I selected a date in February for the pass and was able to proceed to the next page.
Hope this helps; in the event of problems, you could take screenshots and then PM me, attaching the screenshots.

Do you have to download a copy of the log book? and the box above, what is it asking for? cant find how to translate into english.

A copy of the V5C has to be uploaded with the first application only.
If you are asking about "N° d'identification ou n° dans la série du type", that is the VIN as shown on the V5C (and on a French carte grise) at item E.

Re machine translation into English, what device and browser are you using? With mainstream browsers there is usually a way to get the page machine translated. If not, I can suggest a workaround. In all cases, be aware that the translation may not be 100% accurate and can result in the reader misinterpreting what they read in their language. I have very occasionally experienced a translation engine omitting a key word (such as "not"), resulting in a translation that says the opposite of the source text. This is fortunately extremely rare and if the translated text says something that seems unusual in the context, it's worth reviewing.

I received mine today having applied when Drover first posted it 31/12 , there’s an English option on the page dropdown and even I found it almost easy to complete, so, now I have it what’s it for ?

Hi, I am microsoft edge, however, I managed to do it this morning. Thank you for all the help.

Glad you managed to achieve your goal!
Edge should offer to translate pages in other languages.
For future reference, go to edge://settings/languages where you can specify preferred languages and just below enable or disable "Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language I read".

It's for affixing in the lower right hand corner of your windscreen (seen from inside).

i.e. so it can be viewed from the pavement ( French pavement that is ).

I gave up telling Brits that their Crit'Air stickers were in the wrong places i.e. top middle, bottom middle, top left. bottom left and top right 😵‍💫 😱

Ok, so now I know where to put it what does it do?, will it get me places I wouldn’t normally be able to access or pass through clean air zones without payment?, what is it really for?, it’s a No 2 . I always avoid cities whenever possible.

Read the link in the OP.

So they actually just make it clear that your vehicle may or may not be ‘clean’ enough to travel through places but doesn’t actually stop you passing through or do you get a fine for not displaying and are there ANPR cameras on entering zones ?, how does the scheme actually work in practice ?, are there places only those with a *1 can go ?
