That's pretty much how I see it nowadays, the price had got so silly last year it was too scary to contemplate doing two thousand miles in a couple of weeks I stopped keeping the receipts it is a cost of having it and although I would rather it was less it's a cost of the hobby. Not really sure how many mpg, and to be honest not really sure I care.
I’m sure it matters to some, but the van I want is the van I have, so it costs what it costs, it does more mpg than my 4x4 and less than my EV
Stop being so condensational.Must keep an eye open here for it, you being a boat owner will know about the diesel bug and water forming in half empty tanks Rob.

Its the big bulky top nose that eats the fuel, new slim models seem to do much better, hope ypu had a good holl.Just back from Germany & Austria, with a mix of motorway, B&D roads and a few mountain passes. Just shy of 2000 miles returned 24mpg. Quite pleased with that.

You'd soon miss a low first in places like the alps, and many other places much closer to home.
Did some great little roads in Cornwall and Devon last week where a low first would be handy.
Lucky me, I got a low range, into 5th at about 12 MPH![]()
True but my van sites at mid green rev counter at 56mph, id rather it was 65mph at same revs, diff was changed from a 8/41 to a 11/43, a 12/41 would be ideal but hard to find these days. You'd soon miss a low first in places like the alps, and many other places much closer to home.
