This years Epic Summer trip

Not much to report really other than the weather broke finally today. Bit grim this morning. A few downpours and then mist but then straight after lunch it decided to go back to Summer again. Lovely afternoon in the end for a few hours at least and a balmy 17c. :D Trip to Croyde bay, Braunton sands and Putsborough beach and also a trip to the little roadside library at Forda, Georgeham as I am running low on reading matter.

Surfs finally improving so just building up to taking to the water to show em how its done. :D

Despite the crummy forecast this week its been far better than expected. Still not cold or anywhere near as wet as we thought it might be. I got dragged into yet another IT crisis in Oxford which pretty much tied up a lot of yesterday and this morning but still managing to get out. Been swimming every day but the waves in the bay still aren't big enough to tempt me out on the surf :D

Ended up having a Chinese picknick tonight on the Harbour in Ilfracombe.

Few more pics including my favourite haunted tree, the shortest lighthouse I have ever seen and the stealth hiker is in one of them.

That's the 'Sleepy Hollow' tree innit Barry?

Yeah I love gnarly creepy trees. This is one down the lane behind our house back home :D Wherever that is.

Filled it up near Exeter when we left Salcombe to come up here two weeks ago. It was almost empty but we wont use any at all here. All on EHU. This van even has an electric hob ring on the cooker and a microwave. :D

Our Bailey had one electric ring. If we remembered to fill the kettle before bed, I could turn it on in the morning with my toes. Handy as we lived in it on hook-up on the drive for over a year.

I've never used it (I don't cook much) but I prefer to use the gas and there are three gas rings and the oven and a grill but Michelle gets annoyed if I use them. She likes to preserve the gas. She even got annoyed when I made cheese on toast while she was out. I bet she will want to stop on the motorway on the way home to top it up now. It will probably take 0.01 litres.

Had my new van since beginning of February. Refillable gas bottles , big one and a wee one . Hot water and cooking only things on gas . Done 12000 miles still haven't refilled

Compressor fridge? Two weeks off grid is about as long as our 6kg Gaslow lasts in summer without heating. I reckon a week if we need the heating on a bit.

Yeah but diesel heating . Suppose it proves I don't cook too much .
Or wash

PMSL! :D

My biggest mistake was buying a van with Albert hall size living quarters and a palatial bathroom that Mrs D likes to use ten times a day with a puny sized gas locker! :D

Actually its worked out ok really. If we were not on hookup for the past two weeks and all next week though we would be knackered now as the heating is on 24/7. Its a big space to heat and whilst the gas heating is superb it don't half drink the gas.

Had van 3 weeks filled up twice 11kg gaslow (and a spare 11gk calor bottle just in case) Currently in Puy du Dome region, 3c outside and sleety rain.
I am Waiting 'til 1:30 for the cable car to start again at Puy de Sancy (closed for 2 hrs lunch now) so I can get cold and wet at the top and see some fog.. If I go up now I'll have to wait 2 hrs for the car back down.
I Was on 6amp Camping carpark site las night so just 1kw of heat without the gas on . It's 23c inside van now

We used a few of the CCP Aires. Never needed to use the heating though as it was summer. I did wonder how they would cope in Winter as I suspect having the heating on EHU on full chat would trip the 6amp system and 1kw would not be enough to heat this van properly. Unlikely Ill ever be in France in Winter anyway.

Get a Diesel heater Barry.

You could start a thread on it. 😐
