I am looking forwards and think that diesel heating is probably the way.
Gas, either refillable or perhaps later ,back to exchange bottles will continue to supply my hob, fridge, and heat up water for showering. Those do not use very much, 11 kilos can last me a month. it is the heating that is by far my biggest consumer.
Last time I looked only 400 new LPG bi-fuel vehicles had been registered (2018). You cannot buy a new one nowadays, sure there are still converters out there and one or two companies that specialise in e.g motorhome tank installations and other stuff. It is a dying market in the UK, demand from us for domestic use is a tiny drop in the ocean. Supply is predicated on demand for road fuel which is no longer there. Enjoy it whilst it lasts, but if thinking of installing a new system, take a long term view. And if operating a business dedicated to supplying and installing this kit, likewise.
A shame, because as a road fuel it has some advantages, but also some downsides. The marketplace has turned against it, after some early enthusiasm. Things may be different in other countries, but in the UK that's just how it is, and I don't see it changing.
Forecourt pumps will be coming out when it's time to time to replace/repair/upgrade, unless they are actually still profitable to operate. I don't see any new ones going in, nevermind an expansion of the network.
