Room 101.

That's stupid as the regs changed very recently.

Many here insist on doing so on the net or s phone, ok if you have that and many oldies here do not. :(
It’s worse.

We’re not allowed to make an appointment. At all. Ever.

You can’t ring direct for anything, or call in. You have to enter your details online, then the doctors will contact you by phone AT SOME POINT IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS.

No date or time given. They’ll call you back in the next 4 weeks; if you miss their call twice (even though you don’t know when it’s coming) they cancel your request.

It’s shockingly bad.

You enter your details online (symptoms, extent etc). They review it then they decide what priority it is and they decide when they will call you back, up to 30 days. But they don’t tell you that. So you can be waiting weeks for a call, not knowing if/when it’s coming or if you’ve missed it.

Even my local MP has failed to do anything about it.

That is disgraceful but I expect it will be a growing problem elsewhere too.

You are wrong I'm afraid or if not then your surgery is not following the guidelines properly.

Are you with AWC Modality by any chance

I ring them and initially I'm told to fill in a form on line, and press one to receive a link, ignore all that crap, I used to ring first thing and wait til it was my turn, now I ring after 9am and eventually it tells me they are very busy, press one to keep my place and then reception will call me back, I did this yesterday afternoon at 2pm here are the edited screenshots to show the time scale, and I was 19 in the queue too 37 minutes in total from my first call to a doctor ringing me.

Must be a postcode lottery as I our doctors are brilliant. I can usually phone up and get a same day appointment. They are doing appointments online also though but I doubt they will ever cease phone appointments. Too many codgers or technophobe farmers in the dales. :D We are served pretty well across the range of services here. I put it down to us having the second lowest population per square mile in England. The downside is its a big region so you often have to travel a good distance for the GP, Post offices etc.

That's interesting Kev but The page you linked to relates to Scotland (says so at the top of the page). Is it the same everywhere in the UK?

I’m definitely not wrong. Our MP has tried and failed and accepts it’s a huge problem.

You enter your details online. They review. They state they will get back within 4 weeks. 2 attempts then it’s cancelled.

I’ve had a formal complaint in, and discussed this with the practice customer liaisons manager, who confirmed the above process.

Sorry, bad choice of words.

What I meant was, you may have misunderstood their requirements as they don't make it very clear for us older people, if you don't hang to listen to all the crap they want you to do, you do not get the option to press one.

We too have to enter your details online. I ignore that and by pressing one they ring me back, I just tell them I'm no good at form filling and they do it all for me by asking questions, they then tell me I WILL get a call back and they've never failed to do that usually it's a nurse practitioner or a doctor and they will either do a telephone consultation or ask that I go down, in yesterdays example above the doc rang and I was sat in his surgery at 15:20 so less than 1 1/2 hours start to finish, which TBH is better than normal

People who when you are queuing behind them at the pumps after they have refuelled there car and been to pay, then proceed to fiddle with their shopping they have just spent 10 minutes getting, then open the sandwiches they have just bought and start filling their fat faces, then start adjusting their makeup...

Well, you get the picture!
