Removing a Tracker

If I was you Barrie if I did not want I would want it removed as , tim says insurance company insist on them up to a certain value only .they give discounts for things like wheel clamps high cataogary alarms reversing camaras , but if you don't use them all the time They are get out clauses for insurance company , that is my opinion not advice

Presumably as Barry could have got a 5% discount on his insurance but didn't then his insurance company aren't insisting on him having one?
It depends on the price for the van , when I bought mine it was vans over 40 k had to have an insurance listed tracker expect it would be more now they all anual fee not cheap , I bought an ebay tracker several years ago it works of a payg simm im still impressed with it if I phone simm it goes to Google maps and shows its location even when sat in the pub.

Oh stuff that for a game of soldiers. I think ill leave it connected. :D Maybe a battery master longer term for the solar would be the best option but that wont help come winter parked on the drive or in storage.
I’m in similar situation but had it over a year with no problems whatsoever and cab battery was changed too without a problem with alarm or immobiliser so I’ve just ignored mine without an issue.

If you can get a battery charger to the MoHo in the drive you can hook up to EHU at home and use the built in charger.

Ah Ha!! think again!!

A skinny dwarf or a well trained cat might just be able to sneak along there and plug in a hookup cable but I've got no chance despite my recent diet success. :D

However. If you are suggesting the hookup on this van can also charge the cab battery then Ill find a way. There are loads of cats round here. Ill train one up.

Does that just work off the cig socket then somehow? If its enough to combat a parasitic drain then that would do. A battery master would be better but thats not going to happen probably this year or this summer at least.

You can plug it into the cigarette lighter socket Barry and it charges the battery through that. Some sockets aren't live with the ignition off though so I'm not sure that would work, I would have thought not.

If I was doing it I would hard wire it to the battery maybe through a plug in the passenger glove box. You don't need a charge controller for 10w.

You need to think outside the box.
Here are a few suggestions for starters.

Plan A - Take a brick out if the wall and use your neighbour's supply (saves you money)
Plan B - Fit a second EHU socket on the rear of the van
Plan C - Plug the EHU into the van and drive in very very carefully
Plan D - Knock the wall down
Plan E - Move house
Plan F - Reverse in until the EHU socket is past the house
Plan G - Invent wireless 230v charging (works on SWMBO's phone)
Plan H - Plug the EHU into the van and lower the van into place using a crane or helicopter.
Plan I - Buy a Volkswagen Campervan (this is not a serious suggestion!)
Plan J - Fit a pantograph and some overhead wires
Plan K - https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/bn_7024828096
Plan L - Build a thin Robot.
Plan M - Construct a Star Trek style transporter

Hope this helps.

You really think a diddy 10w panel on the dash would work Rob? I had a bendy 100W jobbie on one of our vans and that failed to keep up. True I had both cab and hab batteries connected together and there was some additional drain from the control panel but I wouldn't expect anything from a 10W panel without direct sunlight and there's not a lot of that about in winter. Look at those walls too, its essentially parked in a dungeon 🤔

Use a longish cable and after pluging in reverse back, daft ape. 😂

Some of those are not as daft as they sound! :D

Of course the Elephant in the room is will it fit on the drive like the other one? I reckon its 1cm wider but 5cm wider in the cab with much thicker doors. At the bottom of the drive you have to get out of the passenger door and the wall does widen a bit. At my fattest I could do it in Hank with a squeeze just, Ive lost two stone since my fattest and aim to lose more. We won't know until Monday or Tuesday.

I feel 'a new house for Barry' thread coming on.

Could you bear to leave Rock God towers though?

Perfect home here for him, just requires some TLC.

For a tech person when it comes to Motorhomes I'm a bit of a dinosaur! All I see is potential problems. I am dreading getting to grips with all the gadgets. Ill maybe contact the company when I get it home, see what they say.
Surely you can illiminate any minor battery drain if it's at home either by solar or EHU, you may even be able to disarm it temporarily, just add a note to the dash to turn it back on.

I'll never leave this place. Its just fantastic. The only place I would ever want to move to in the UK at least would be a lakeside property in Cumbria or a hillside one in Salcombe Devon overlooking the sea. We did find one we fell in love with last year but it was £5m so might have to put that one on hold. :D
