Mppt woes

Now here's a howdydo, I think that it is due to swapped polarities because the van exterior gives me jolt when I touch it. Sadly my polarity tester is on the bench with the multi tester, could I be on the right track..
If swapped polarities gives you a jolt, do not connect your van to any hookup until an electrician has fixed it, because it is dangerously faulty.

... there will be lots of time to fiddle about and try to make sense of your wonderful suggestions
When you look into it, please don't fire the parts cannon at the problem until you find out what is wrong.
Five minutes checking will tell whether there is a fault in the wiring.
Another five minutes checking will tell whether there is a fault in the solar controller.
If so, you may need a third five minutes checking to find out what blew up the controller. They don't usually go wrong -unless you get them wet.

Please either borrow a lead and try it and
tell us if things blow when you lead is plug into supply but not into MoHo.

These only take a couple of minutes and don't need any tools or test equipment.

We may be able to identify the fault.

We are now on an aire so no leccy, but we will be able to try on the 5th because we will be on a campsite prior to going to the service on the 6th. Keeping everything crossed.

Peter. If you're passing our place on your way home I can take a quick look for you. We're away soon on and off so depends when and if you're passing. J22 M1.
PM me👍
Thanks for the kind offer, we haven't yet booked a return crossing so unsure of our route home yet

Well bloomin' 'eck, the wonderful wizard Merlin lives !!!!
Today Sue and I arrived at Merl and Kims place so that he could have a fiddle with my rather erratic power supply. It started with a blown fuse, then my mppt unit was a con (!!!) and finally discovering that there was a fault on the mains supply, but only on one side, so that's now a job for me to fiddle with. We are proud to be part of this wonderful fellowship and actually have a leccy genius who knows what he's doing, thank you Merl and ta to Kim for the lovely cup of tea too.
Now back drinking French wine in Glossop

Right, having said that my mppt unit was a con, I need to replace it, now the ones that I've seen all seem to use bluetooth stuff which a foreign area for me, any suggestions for one that a complete numpty can use ? adding though, for not too much dosh

Do you have a smartphone that has Bluetooth Peter? If so then this is the one you want. Cheap as chips and it will pretty much work out what its connected to and do it all for you but to monitor it and set it up you need a smartphone with bluetooth. Its dead easy though. You just power it up, go into bluetooth on your phone and connect to it using the password on the sticker that comes with the Victron MPPT. Dead simple.
