Mppt woes

This one is definitely MPPT Peter, it's been favourably reviewed many times by people on tinternet and is widely regarded as the 'go to' budget MPPT controller.
It's not app based and it has it's own screen so you won't need to couple it to a smartphone.
But it says throughout that it is with lithium batteries, mine aint !! will it still be ok?

Right, having said that my mppt unit was a con, I need to replace it, now the ones that I've seen all seem to use bluetooth stuff which a foreign area for me, any suggestions for one that a complete numpty can use ? adding though, for not too much dosh

When Bluetooth was first used I asked someone what it was and he gave me a definition that I still use today, puts things into perspective.

"BLUETOOTH is an invisible wire that isn't there. "

In other words it is a does the same job of connecting electronic devices as a wire, but is not a physical thing.
You can send stuff between two (or more) things e.g sound to a Bluetooth speaker, or instructions to turn the hot tub on.
If your controller sends information (e.g. charge rate) it can be seen on a suitable device (e.g. your phone) and Bluetooth is the "wire" connecting them
If the controller has buttons to change settings, you can press a button on your wristwatch via the Bluetooth "wire".

It does say compatible with GEL, FLD, SLD, LI - presumably SLD is sealed lead acid and FLD Flooded lead acid?

Why too high a charge Trev??
Gel/flooded lead acid/sealed lead acid/Lithium and user defined

  • Solar controller automatically recognizes 12V/24V battery voltage, compatible with GEL, SLD, FLD, LI, User, and supports 0V charging of Li-ion batteries, ensuring stable adaptation of various battery types and waking up the sleeping Li-ion batteries.

That's why I don't understand why Trev's saying it's not suitable and too high a charge?
