LPG Gaslow, tank kits and other alternatives ooop North

The rv bottles are gasit bottles basically the same as gaslow but red instead of yellow

thanks. Actually they are not cheaper when you look at the kits. Not much in it. Stick with Gaslow I think. The twin six cylinder kit is more expensive than the 11kg twin set! WTF! I think the 11kg set is available with rubber hoses though. Fitting costs on top of that of course.

Don't understand all this slander, Charlie has never fell out with me lol, maybe cos we share the same sentiments haha
I fell out with him once online but when we met for the first time at Arf's funeral at Rutland it was forgotten about, Charlie liked Maggy though and over the years he and Karen regularly popped around for a chat at meets,

I wouldn't choose anyone else for LPG advice or work

I dont think there is anyone else! Up here at least. I agree though. They do seem to know their onions.

Ahhh, memories of when my van was shinny and new. Think I overnighted on a lay-by just up the road. Bed wasn't even in van, roll mat on floor, proper camping.
Give my regards to them.

We just bought 2, 11kg bottle Gasit kit from Autogas, they have a couple of pallets of bottles from purchasing Gasit and are the cheapest option at the moment. All in cost £460, have a go at fitting yourself, it’s a doddle and you could get it checked over at your first fill up at Autogas.

Nah. I ain't doing it myself. I want a filler on the side for a kick off. I appreciate it's an easy job for someone who is handy. That's certainly not me! 🤣

Leave it to them. But don’t watch. I did and wish I had waited in reception.

How long does it take?
It was about an hours work. Maybe an hour and a half. Do think about how and where you are going. Scotland in winter could be problematic without a calor gas tail. But I bought a tail off them for calor that attaches to the fill up port so the bottle sits outside for an emergency.

I definitely want a Calor back up and thats the issue. I might only have space for a 6kg Gaslow and a 6kg Calor which will be a PIA. Ideally if I can squeeze an 11kg with a 6kg Calor that would be best like we have now but that locker on the new van was designed for 2 x 6kg bottles. There was talk of a kit / fixed tank that might fit in the locker. I dont want an underslung one. We will just have to go with whatever fits and make it work.

it will depend on the van and what you have done, the will give you a guesstimate on time but until they get the van they cant be certain what they find

Thats why I think a visit to Thirsk for an inspection might be a good idea.

Why wouldn't you want an underslung tank?

Weights low, may even get the weight more forward depending on tank.

But I'd go with advice from Thirsk.

Partly because I dont like the idea of an LPG tank under the van but also in 2022 when he gave me a price for one even I think there was a longer lead time and the Alko LPG kit was around £1400. Might be worth revisiting it though. I paid £250 for my 11kg Glaslow system, fitted with a filler on the skirt in 2008. :D Just seems shocking how much they are now.

£1400 is a pretty good reason. That's a lot of lithium these days. 😆

That was two years ago as well. I'm sure he said there was maybe something that would fit in the locker though. I did ask twice on email about that, not heard back.
