Dornoch camping site Sutherland.

This topic has even made the CAMH club discussion forum. (I'm not a member anymore BTW). There's a few reactionary posts, unsurprisingly, but it's mostly constructive. I like the post with the photo of the Dornoch site. I wouldn't want to stop there even if they hadn't started their stupid petition.
After reading the first four posts from the ignorant tuggers I needed medication to get my blood pressure down. It must be awful having to go to campsites, apparently we are all freeloaders. One poster claims to own a motorhome , he should start using it for what it was intended for, or buy a caravan. Geeeeezzzx

I did read a couple of posts, I note one talks of public toilets blocked, at home we have ye olde portaloo with standard bowl which we use for emptying toilet, like some campsites also use, never once has it blocked.

Highland Council contacted all campsites after Covid to ask if they would allow "service stops" for non residents. They gave grants to sites who said they allow service stops. It would be interesting to know how much Dornoch site was given.

I did see the case number on line that has been lodged somewhere but not sure if you can counter object to what they are proposing.

The councellor from Kirkcaldy objected and wanted this case put to rest but another pushed for it to remain and be put forward.

Hmmm makes interesting reading !
Basically make every motorhome park overnight in a campsite or aire,
Hope they are going to build loads more campsites and aires to support all these motorhomes or they will end up with no visitors if we start getting fined

Interesting to see that all the negative reviews seem to have disappeared from search for sites now!
I have just emailed search for sites asking why they are doing this, and asked why they continue to promote a site that wishes to ban us from what they promote. I have also added another post on the comments for this site. I don’t get it, the primary reason for search for sites existing is to promote what they want to ban.

That's outrageous. We should also be challenging their impartiality. And suggesting we won't renew our subscriptions.

Regarding "defecating at the side of the road", I have lost count of the number of times that I and, perhaps more precisely, my dog have found human excrement at the side of public footpaths or behind styles and farm gates. Perhaps, by the same logic as Dornoch, we should legislate that all walkers and cyclists only use the facilities of a campsite!

Mostly constructive !
Maybe I should have read more comments. The vast majority, that I read , were far from constructive.
Bit like reading an extreme version of the Daily Mail.
I was actually quite shocked .
Going to lie down now

More like destructive comments from idiots who don’t have a clue about us.

You left out fishermen (& women). Never venture into the bushes alongside a canal, river or loch that are favourite fishing sites.

Just to add some [circumstantial?] context from someone who helped me when we first bought a Motorhome in April 2021, so whose inormation I would trust. He is on another Forum and posted that he had visited the Site some 3 years ago. He reckons that the Site is alongside the Coastguard Ofice and another lane [IIRC], and that, at the time of his visit, there were a couple of Campervans 'wedged' at the lane entrance, and there was both human waste and litter evident, so the problem is not perhaps an isolated incident. HOWEVER. if that is the case and IF it is a recurring problem that is damaging the Site Owner's business, then surely a nightly check for inconsiderate Motorhomers, a photo of their registration and a phone report to both the Police and Environmental Health would have achieved an immediate result ...

My cynicism has reduced marginally, but I still think the Site Owners are on a mission to force M/Homers to use the seemingly overpriced site if the reported £11 charge for a service stop is a guideline

“We believe that motorhome users who choose not to use campsites, caravan parks or aires place an unnecessary burden on local communities by parking inappropriately, disposing of their rubbish, chemical toilet and dirty water as well as defecating, at the side of the road.

“Regulated parks offer all these facilities in one safe location."

One wonders where on their site they offer the facility to defecate at the side of the road in a safe location.;)
Maybe those wooden tubs at the side of the road approaching their site aren't for flowers, they're perhaps Dump tubs.
