Do we have a right to park or not

The YouTuber is now claiming he was outside a friends house, was told it was fine to park and his friend even moved his car for him. I challenged him in the the comments. Seems odd that he never mentioned this to the police though.
He must have deleted it, last comment appears to be 6 days ago.

If that's true he would certainly know what goes down at Appleby and a friend would tell him to keep well clear.

I have just done likewise Barry.

Quite frankly attempting to park a motorhome in this place at this time seems utter madness. It’s akin to taking your van to the Isle of Man whilst the TT races are on and complaining about parking restrictions. It would appear you were looking for bother to create interest in your video. What you have done actually sets our and your cause back, it makes us unpopular and look unreasonable. Whether or not what you did was or was not within the law it lacked common sense, and disregard for the consequences of your actions. For someone who has fought so hard on our behalf, I reckon you have done much harm here, and I am genuinely sorry to have to say this.

Visitors using a residents only space usually need either a council permit or a visitors ticket from the occupier for them to stick in the window. These tickets usually have date and time boxes to indicate the length of their stay. Not doing this will result in a PCN. I had a PCN for this once in my work vehicle - I did have the occupiers ticket in the windscreen but I had neglected to tick the date and time boxes. :(

Got a reply to my message on post 64.

Parking outside a friend's house who moved his own car so we could park in his space is unreasonable ? Im sure if you took your van to the TT to park on a friends drive, you would see that as totally acceptable. You have not considered all the facts, You have only seen your negative view, looking only for the bad in people. When, in fact, our friend was able to make sure our van was safe, didn't get stolen, and more importantly, our dog zeb was OK as we dont consider the fair a good place for nervous dogs. Now you have all the facts do you still consider us to not have common sense ?

@Roadshome Please don't tell me what I have considered. It's well known that this Fair creates major issues for the local people, the Police, and the local authorities. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would never countenance parking a motorhome within ten miles of Appleby when this fair is on. You have quite simply went there hoping for a story to report on your YouTube site, without any regard for the consequences. As for taking a motorhome to the Isle of Man during the TT, common sense tells me it would be better to visit the Island when the TT races were not on. Why go to Appleby now, I reckon some of us know dam fine why you went there when the fair was on.

Sounds like he is getting a bit shirty with you Bill. :D

I see he is emphasising that he was at a friends house who moved his car so he could park outside. The only mention of this in the video is around 6min in where he claims to have friends in some flats that told him it was ok to park. No mention of a house or moving their car from their parking place so he could park. That would seem to me to be the best defence when confronted by the Police. So why did he not mention it to them. "Oh yes officer, this is my friends house and I am visiting them and they said I could use their space". If its residents only then maybe the "friends" could have given them a permit. I smell bullshit.

It is a shame if he has done good work for motorhomers that he has chosen to make what seems to me like a deliberate video to invoke a response.

I actually watch quite a few of the van life videos, but usually the instructional ones or if they are about somewhere I am interested in.

This particular one just didn't appeal in any way for me, bit like a sensationalised newspaper article really.

To be honest the video is so disjointed it's very hard to see what went on.

They don't show any footage of the actual spot where they were issued with the PCN, they do show some footage of a motorhome wheel against the chain surrounding the green where it is a very narrow lane so they would be causing an obstruction and cause chaos frankly, they say there is no sign at the layby when they have actually just filmed one saying residents only (usually backed up by a TRO) and then they move to a layby outside the town where they prove there is no sign and say they THINK they will get fined again but actually don't!

I'm really not convinced and will be very interested to see what happens.
I watched it when it first came out so I may be wrong here BUT, I don't think they were given a PCN or anything at all Rob, just kncked on the door and said move or else.

Doesn't matter what you think of where he parked or what he is like the issue for me is the police are not following the law. As far as I can see thee cops are the bad guys in this

Don't know what you lot have been drinking, or maybe it's the hot weather. If someone wants to go to the horse fair why can't they? You can take your motorhome to the Isle of Man tt races if you want to as well.

If you watch the series n the horse fair you will discover that it has been made very difficult for people travelling in horse drawn and actions taken by councils and others actually cause more problems in a different spot.

No matter what you think of them these people have a right to travel to this fair, they have been doing it for many years

Watch the video again Neil, at no point do the Police say 'move or else' they tell him that he can't park there and he has been told previously which is yet to be proved or disproved. In fact the Youtuber starts the video by saying that they have been prevented from filming - which they haven't - he is filming as he says it.

In the meantime he will show video with about 5 or 6 words from the police at a time and flash up on the screen the words they are using (and I mean flash because there isn't time to read it without pausing the screen) and throughout this he flashes up words like 'Harassment' and pictures of 7 police officers sitting smiling around there cars in the sunshine which is nothing to do with the incident.

And he definitely does get a PCN or FPN because he shows it and reads it out.

In my view it is deliberately manipulative and dramatised with the pictures and big colourful words flashing up on the screen to try and enforce his case but I can't see it being successfully used as evidence against the Police, as I said before it's just too disjointed and hard to follow as it's made up of very short soundbites which he keeps talking over.

Perhaps the Police video without the interruptions would show the full story and clear them or otherwise.

As for visiting the Horse fair though, yes, people are perfectly entitled to go there if they want to but whilst they are there they should obey the law or face the consequences. And if the Police HAVE abused their power then they should face the consequences too but more proof than that video is required in my opinion.

The more I consider his video.... (and some of his other clips)

The more it feels deliberately edited to maximise rage and interaction....

Smells more and more like some so called auditor with a drone.

Intrustin, as I did similar to you....re watched this and others and unsubscribed to him now

He has done similar before and feel with some very negative towards van life in a way ....is it too put folks off and have more room for them to park up??

Then watched the latest from another I follow who was and are so positive about it all.

Clicks equal monies?

I suppose he has achieved what he set out to achieve as we all keep clicking on it. I would like to write down every word spoken by the Police in that video and post it here because I really can't see that they have done anything particularly wrong apart from maybe some clumsy wording, yet people are calling them fascists etc. in the comments!

But I can't be arsed!
