Same here, which makes me wonder what’s going on.
I am not, and will never defend using toilets for disposing of chemical waste.
I have stated so clearly on here many times.
But what we are talking about are toilets being blocked, and us being blamed by the media. A media I treat with no trust whatsoever.
Any trips I plan include provision for chemical waste,
I have never emptied my chemical waste into a public toilet,
And I never will.
These toilets were in minehead, not some rural toilet in some small village.
I find it hard to beleive they are not connected to a normal sewerage system via a normal 150mm pipe. If so, emptying chemical waste should not result in any blockage.

I'm afraid I don't subscribe to the toilet casette in a carrier bag etc and sneak in and empty it in public toilets idea ...

Anymore than I'd advocate the filling up of water round the back of services/graveyards etc ...

Certainly without express permission ....

Those behaviours just provide ammo to the Anti motorhome/freeloader brigades .

Happy to call in a site now and again (or pretty much always now)

Has anyone ever witnessed someone emptying a cassette on the beach or the dunes or anywhere inappropriate and provided the video or photographic evidence in any of these many reports you see where they claim motorhomers doing this as a reason to ban them? I think there was something a year or so back where it appeared that a cassette had been emptied into a stream but still no actual "Caught on camera" evidence.

I reckon 99% of it is bullshit. Just made up. Who the hell would dump a cassette in the dunes where you and many others are staying?

I have seen it twice! Both times I have been verbally abused and threatened with violence if I didn't mind my own business! Once in a layby next to a Chinese restaurant on the Penzance to Helston road and again on the roadside just outside Perranporth! And no, I didn't get a photo! It is not the first thing you think of. And by the time I got my camera or phone, it would have been all over. We think we saw someone, who had a cassette walking back from the waterside near Poole. But we didn't actually see him dump his waste.

You are not on your own, it’s been witnessed by me and others. I agree that the people who do this are not the sort to start arguing with.

I think people deny it happens because it’s easier than having to deal with it.

We were in St Ives Bay Holiday Park, the entrance is almost opposite the lay-by. In fact, my sister who lives in Penzance said they have been there for a few years. We reported the two instances of cassette emptying to the police, they said to contact the council Environmental Health, which we did. Never heard any more, so I guess that unless they catch them in the act, it is my word against theirs.

Near Perranporth, we drove past a motorhome parked at the side of the road and the guy was actually emptying his cassette. I pulled up next to where he was and challenged him. He threatened to finish emptying over me! As for comparing this to gassing in vans, you are calling me a liar! Gassing has been proved to be fake and is an urban myth. Cassette emptying is not.

My mum used to say that if you get someone saying that something never happens, when you know it does, that usually means they are guilty of it!

My point was that in an earlier post you said "We (collectively) are at fault, because we don't police ourselves" but you then go on to say that when you tried to you were threatened with violence so you reported it to the Police and the Council Environmental Health and heard nothing and so "I guess that unless they catch them in the act, it is my word against theirs".

This being the case, how exactly do we police it ourselves?

That this was a first hand experience, it was actually a cassette and it was just dumped in a road "near" A Chinese restaurant. I dont think those that report gas attacks are necessarily lying, they maybe believe it to be true and even if its a first hand report (Rare) they perhaps believe they were gassed when they weren't. You have clarified exactly what you saw so I have no reason to not believe you. Hope that clears that up.

But I can confirm that it does happen. It’s not just Rumour that’s seen it. I’ve witnessed it first hand as well. Plus I know others who have witnessed it and I trust them.

I’m sure you can imagine how frustrating it gets when people question it, when you’ve seen it yourself. Some motorhomers do it, as do some non motorhomers. Some motorhomers have blocked public toilets by emptying cassettes, some non motorhomers have blocked them.

The main thing is that it definitely happens, those doing it are not to be challenged, it is resulting in bans and non of us have the answer!

Many on this forum advocate emptying in Supermarket facilities, pubs, disabled toilets using Radar keys when not entitled, water from graveyards etc. etc.

Not illegal, but not a good image in my opinion.

But I can confirm that it does happen. It’s not just Rumour that’s seen it. I’ve witnessed it first hand as well. Plus I know others who have witnessed it and I trust them.

I think it stems from there being many reports in the media of such activity being blamed for the closure of various spots to us. There never is any evidence. Then we get motorhomers reporting it also but often its third party claims that they never witnessed actually themselves. So whilst its obvious now that it has happened as you and another member saw it yourselves I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of these claims that we see in the media or we hear third hand from a friend of a friend are rubbish. As far as I can see there has never been any real evidence as in Photographic or video evidence even after the event. At least Ive not seen any. If it was as rife as some would have us believe it would be all over the internet but its not.

I know there was a lot of awful behaviour in lockdown or just after but from what I can gather, virtually all of that was yobs from towns in throw away tents.
