£38.60 a night

I would presume (maybe wrongly) that the fixed prices would be set to cover the maximum useage possible?

I can't find any other articles to clarify the situation though.

...a quick calculation shows obviously not though!

As we know in Germany and elsewhere you pay by a metered socket.
But then the site is re-selling leccy.
I have a suspicion that is not ok in uk.
Possibly to protect those in rented places and landlords taking the ????

Maybe something like this is the way to go. They dont sound expensive and presumably can be added to existing hookup infrastructure. Googling about the internet is not exactly full of options or products for meters for CL or caravan site hookups. Could be a market there for someone.

Ideally you pay the site fee and then just pay on a card. Unless its connected to wifi or a telephone line though Im not sure how it would work. cant find anything for coin operated meters.

Excellent Barry. I wonder if I could fit them to the annexe where my daughter and son in law live, and my grandkids bedrooms.

To be fair they can fill city sites easily 12 months of the year.
The C&MC site Rowntree Park in York is booked a year in advance and would cost you even more.

If you are a member you would have got 20% discount.
But the Baltic Wharf site is normally full even in winter.
Its well situated next to the river Avon, and many of the Brunel attractions.
Only 10 or 12 vans there last week when we were there. It’s really quiet they think because it was supposed to close in December, I know they’ve said that for years.
I’d heard not so booked up now as deposit has to be paid when booking, which speculative bookers won’t pay.
Still a bit pricey but great location.
We have used a CL site at Bradley stoke I think that was very good.

Yes it’s fabulous location right next the the river Avon, the Brunel museum, brunels Great Britain transatlantic ship, nice walk into Bristol City centre. But it will go, it’s on a six month rolling contract now.

To be pedantic, it is next to the Bristol docks not the Avon, which is across the road from the entrance

The new Owners arrived on the CL today in two big posh 4x4s. I thought it was MI5 or something coming to arrest me for subversive rock music crimes or something. They take over next week.

I found the property details online. £1.2 million! Ive turned the heating back up. :D

Why have an electric hook up at all most vans now have gas heating or diesel . , gas cooking ,12 volt TV if you must ,solar panels , led lights etc , Electric is an expensive optional extra, so if you want it you must pay the price ?

I would agree in summer and I bet solar sales go mental this year but not in winter. We have been in the lakes for three weeks on two CL sites. I doubt even the most powerful Lithium battery set up would have lasted that long with no solar charge whatsoever probably.

97% of folk I talk to in vans never heard of solar or no nothing about it, same goes for lith batteries and 12v tv, they buy a van and just go to the big two campsites 2 weeks a year, Portrush Co Antrim or Newcastle co Down.
The other few lot are well into wilding and understand vans, many have had a look at mine and said they would love to go down the self-build path but don't have any skills tools, or a workshop, these, of course, are things folk forget about when the watch utube fantasy builds.

Where?

I dont use site very often and even less use EHU but I do have to go th North Yorkshire soon and I'd rather spend my money with a memeber than not
Sorry for late reply. We’re Ivy Cottage Campsite by Filey. We‘re in Search for sites and google. 👍🏻🏕

Is this it? https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/marker.php?id=36779 Looks nice. It says you have metered hookups. Thats the way to go I reckon. Open all year as well. Its an area we visit a lot. We always stay at the CL on the Lighthouse road at Flamborough head but its officially summer only.
