Its been reported when someone asked on another forum that Morrisons (Or MFG) now don't have insurance cover for anyone filling anything other than a fixed tank.
Recent reports in late 2025 indicate that Morrisons, or more specifically, the Motor Fuel Group (MFG) which now operates its forecourts, has stopped allowing the refilling of all portable LPG bottles, including "Safefill" cylinders, due to an "insurance issue".
This decision is part of a wider, ongoing policy by MFG to cease the practice of filling non-permanently fixed LPG containers across their sites due to safety concerns and commercial viability issues. The ban was prompted by an incident involving a fire and improper use of an adapter on a non-refillable bottle, leading to a review of safety protocols and insurance coverage.

Key Points:
- The ban applies to all bottles, even those designed to be refillable like Safefill, and standard Calor gas cylinders, regardless of whether they have an external filler point.
- The policy extends across the UK to all MFG-operated forecourts, which includes those branded as Morrisons.
- Some locations may still permit the filling of permanently mounted, certified underslung tanks on vehicles, but this can vary by site and staff interpretation of the rules.
