I'm tentively looking around for possibilities for our next van.

Looked at one, it had a front lounge, we've had those, and whilst we liked them at the time we prefer the rear lounge now.

We had the Autosleeper Suffolk before the winchcombe that had the rear lounge which is what we were looking for at the time, which we did like, until we saw the winchcombe, and the large bathroom and how much more open it felt.
I would never have a rear lounge again as compared to the winchcombe it feels claustrophobic
 
Look to be all front lounges, Liz wouldn't even look at them now, and we'd like a PVC if possible, as our drive is small and it'd make parking for car and van more easier.
I originally wanted a pvc but ended up with a coach built, I do keep looking at the pvc the one I would like is the
Autosleeper M Star especially as they have just knocked 25k off, I am just having trouble getting my head around the compromise we would have to make
 
I only got a few minutes into this video and figured it wouldn't be for us anyway, over 3.5t, and electric handbrake, I've had one fail, our car has one, but I cover the brake with my left foot.


Not to mention, we hate leather seats.

Knowing pretty much exactly what we want is the difficulty, it's not there, hence building our own, but the cost would kill that, and I'm just not up to it anymore.

No autobox vans on ebay anyway.
 
What was the Bessaccar that dear old Tugboat Geoff had Kev? That was a shorter rear lounge van with a luton and no dinette.
I forget, but I don't want an overcab bed anyway, and would prefer a PVC, although I've not found an automatic PVC with opening windows and a rear lounge.

In a moment of madness I looked at PVC's. I liked the look of the Globestars but finding any with rear lounges seemed impossible. They do exist though. We could never make it work though having got so used to so much space so went bigger instead. It might drive you nuts as well possibly.
 
I don't like or want a dinette Colin, which you pointed out in #50, it isn't a place to lounge for us, you CANNOT lounge in a dinette as it too upright, for us anyway, we have had a few vans with them, but bigger than I would want now, then end up as a catch all for coats etc. used for a few minutes a day, but take a lot of the vans length up. I'm not telling people not to have them, nowt to do with me, just not for us.

I wouldn't want another van with a fixed bed, either. I go with the principle I was told years ago, if at all possible, anything in a van should have more than one purpose.
We all like different things, and that's no bad thing, wouldn't all want to be the same, we lounge in the dinette, and the swivel seats recline much more than any purpose built lounge I've ever seen, so I tend to spend most time in the dinette. The fixed beds are set up as 'chaise lounge' with windows on three sides, and gf tends to spend a lot of time there.

You need a proper salesman to tell you want you o_O. I've had couple explaining why the van they have in stock is the ONE. (Like I'm doing now :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:)

I'm with Colin, a non negotiable is 2 separate areas, dinette & lounge, to get away from each other, may not be perfect but.....
With the each area must have a dual purpose theme, the dinette models achieve that more so than not. Having a shower rather than shower/bathroom I see as the most wasteful of spaces of all, I like a shower but I spend 0.034% of my day in a shower (sorry I calculated it :unsure:) seems the most wasteful of a non dual use space.

I'm afraid you make no sense Colin, cab seats recline more than a 6'6'' rear lounge sofa?

For us that's one of the big plusses of the Campscout, the shower tray is in the 'corridor', so when not being used the 'washroom' is a small space not much bigger than the toilet and sink footprint, and where the shower tray is becomes a slightly wider area which makes access to fridge and cupboard under easy, and opens up the rear of van a bit more which alleviates gf's claustrophobia when everything's shut up at night. Where it could be a bit better is if toilet and sink area where more 'waterproof' for hanging wet coats and boots.
