Do we have a right to park or not

You need to watch it.
If you skip to 8:10 - 8:50 in the video he shows a layby directly in front of a row of houses and says there is no sign forbidding parking - that layby looks clearly for the use of residents to park there cars and shouldn't really be considered. The chained edge of the green in that section seems to be on a very narrow road and they show large motorhomes parked against those chains the night before.

If they are condoning that then no wonder we get a bad name with the residents!

Exactly. You can imagine whats happened. Locals, fed up with it all see a motorhome and whats a bit of a stealth van cluttering up the village green with people in them obviously spending the night and report it to the Rozzers. Even if it wasn't the Travellers fair that weekend which it was its inconsiderate and gives us all a bad name. Of course their followers on youtube are all saying how shocking it is and maybe the Rozzers were wrong and it was someone else they spoke to but its bad crack and does us no good whatsoever.

Looking at that footage again of the layby where he says there is no sign - at the start of the layby is that not a sign stating 'residents parking only' - it's hard to make out from the footage but it looks like that to me.

Same as....
I just don't think it's considerate
I don't think it shows us in a good light
AND I don't want anyone staring at me out of their window.
I bet not.

If its taxed and insured and no sign restrictions you have the wright to park anywhere, there is no law says you cannot sleep in any veh, in fact rule 91 says if tired pull over nap/rest or drink coffee.

It may all be inconsiderate and not anything we would do. But if what they are doing is not against the law then like it or not the police should leave well alone.
As much as I see Barry and Robs points about inconsiderate parking and their assertion that the YouTuber may have deliberately provoked the situation, as you say what’s important here, is not what people think but the law. The primary duty of the police is to uphold the law. If these people did not break any law then why were they moved on and fined. Also the other Motorhomes involved and the retired journalist are not as far as I am aware YouTubers.
It will be interesting to see what finally comes from this, because I don’t reckon he will take this lying down, and he will report on his channel.

To be honest the video is so disjointed it's very hard to see what went on.

They don't show any footage of the actual spot where they were issued with the PCN, they do show some footage of a motorhome wheel against the chain surrounding the green where it is a very narrow lane so they would be causing an obstruction and cause chaos frankly, they say there is no sign at the layby when they have actually just filmed one saying residents only (usually backed up by a TRO) and then they move to a layby outside the town where they prove there is no sign and say they THINK they will get fined again but actually don't!

I'm really not convinced and will be very interested to see what happens.

One more sign he failed to mention on the road where he parked was at 7:49 and it read 'Single track road with passing places'.

Who the hell parks overnight on a single track road on Saturday which he said earlier in the video was going to be the busiest day of the fair! (or at any other time come to that).

The YouTuber is now claiming he was outside a friends house, was told it was fine to park and his friend even moved his car for him. I challenged him in the the comments. Seems odd that he never mentioned this to the police though.

Rob and Barry are right in the fact the vid is about as clear as mud and totally disjointed for a supposed video maker. My comments are just about the abuse of peoples rights. Not whether I consider someone has done something morally right or wrong. Personally I think the man is a nob if he couldn't see that grief coming at Appleby.
But once they take a Right off you, you are never getting it back.

It’s ironic, this man has fought diligently on our behalf, and has in the past actually did some good work. But it now seems that what he has done may prove to be counterproductive. Yes it’s ok saying that you are within the law, but this comes with responsibilities and common sense.
I have confessed my ignorance of this event in earlier posts, but after some due diligence I would never visit this place at this time. Akin to taking your van to the Isle of Man for a wee tour whilst the TT is in full swing, utter stupidity.
And that’s a real shame.

A bit like a few others if I see something titled like Van life I give it a swerve.
