Plenty where that came from Bill.Get the lowest mileage Skoda Yeti 4x4, save yourself around £30k and you'll not regret it Bill. We thought Saab's were great but the Yeti is a notch above.

Q: What's the difference between a Subaru and a Porcupine? A: When it comes to a Subaru, the prick is on the inside.

Brilliant!Bill, this was Ral when he got his first BMW, he was onto the support call centre.
That is very likely. My car was a pre-reg, registered on 31st March 2017 and had road tax of £40. If it were registered on 1st April - one day later - the road tax would have been £140.Just realised this car was registered on December 31 2024. I wondered why they did this. If I am reading things correctly it appears they may have done this to avoid the higher rate of road tax which applies to cars registered in 2025, but it’s advertised as £180, if this proves to be wrong it will be a deal breaker.
just found out road tax £590 for four years David. If I bought the sport version I would avoid this. A lot of thinking to be done. The list price of the sports is just below £40,000.That is very likely. My car was a pre-reg, registered on 31st March 2017 and had road tax of £40. is that £590 total or per year? If total, maybe the dealer would wear it?just found out road tax £590 for four years David. If I bought the sport version I would avoid this. A lot of thinking to be done. The list price of the sports is just below £40,000.
First year it’s £180, 2-5 years there’s a luxury supplement of £410 on top of the normal road tax for that year. After five years it’s just the normal road tax.is that £590 total or per year? If total, maybe the dealer would wear it?

BTW, I would strongly recommend you get GAP insurance. The last pricey car I bought I looked at and considered GAP. The car was stolen 18 months after I bought it.Who said I’m spending £40K, that’s the list price, I never, ever pay the list price.![]()
I will look into that David cheers.BTW, I would strongly recommend you get GAP insurance. The last pricey car I looked at it and considered it. The car was stolen 18 months after I bought it.
Stolen from inside a locked workshop - GAP insurance is not just for careless drivers, a loss can happen to anyone.
I couldn't actually remember if I took it out or not but when I scoured my emails, turned out I did, thankfully. Got back what I paid for the car, saving me an approximate £9k loss, plus the GAP insurance also paid the excess, so even the GAP cover paid for itself in that respect.
Used a company called ALA - https://www.ala.co.uk/ - and found their service absolutely top notch. They are also a lot cheaper than any car dealers GAP insurance.
Paid out my claim with minimal delay and fuss. When I bought another car, I got another policy with them, and when I changed that car early, I took out another ALA GAP policy (I forgot about having the GAP insurance again!) and they called me to check if I changed cars or bought an additional one and as I had changed cars and no longer had the old one, refunded me the old policy cost pre-rata without any asking.
You were robbed blind Trev, did the salesman tie his horse up outside.Last car cost me £10 and ran for 15 years with little or no probs to the end, im not fussey as long as it goes from a to b.
