Second Thetford casette - is it worth it?

Well of course that was my thinking too Rob

Just putting £$%^ on only one would work too.

No good writing "£$%^" on it though Kev. If you are sneaking it into the public bogs with your best inspector Clouseau ACME Plumbing services disguise on writing "£$%^" on it is a dead giveaway. Something like "Extra Fresh Lemon cleaning liquid" would be better.

More simple to put the cassette into an old shopping trolley and take it into a cubical to empty, I don't see any difference in doing that than emptying one's self after a few dodgy pints.

And you can have a friendly chat whilst waiting for a cubicle ..............

As an update we have decided to go the 25ltr container route.

There was a good deal on Amazon for two opaque chemical resistant fresh water containers with plenty of reviews from farmers and other commercial users, as well as campers.

Can you provide the Amazon link please?

Found a set of 4 with anti-glug feature - quite important.

Also filling hole being big enough for the cassette spout.

Found another with two caps, one with water tap and the other plain.

I want to test things out before providing specific links. Agree the anti glug feature is useful but it does narrow the filling hole.

An issue is that there are no liquid containers available with filling holes larger than cassette spouts. A funnel may be required.

For those who are used to nappy changing not a problem but others might feel a bit squeamish at the idea.

25ltr is too big anyway 20 would match the 17ltrs of a cassette better and take up less space, have to be a pretty big funnel to take solids unless you use a stick.

By far a second cassette would be the best option, and they do do a very expensive storage container, someone linked to it not long ago

Cassette storage container for a spare cassette.

I have one that looks like this, cassette spout fits inside ok

Black tank

We went down the 2nd cassette route.
No leakage issues.
No decanting faff.
Empties without glugging or splashback risk.
No need to pay megabucks for a new one as there's always plenty of 2nd handers around, I paid £40 for ours, mint as the seller kept it as a spare and never even previously used it!

Not sure about storing a full toilet cassette under our bed for 3-4 days?! We rarely have a 'problem' finding a legit place to empty when travelling, if not, use other loos at cafes, pubs etc until you do find some where - even break the wild camping for a line dancing campsite and restock at the same time on fresh water, longer hot showers etc! We do go along the route of using a 2 litre milk bottle for 'emergency wee's!' however. (Ladies use a dedicated funnel).

Another vote here for a second cassette. Carry it all the time, saves having to worry about if it’s time to empty.
Bought it second hand for £40 and never looked back. Generally speaking, we can fill a cassette in about three days so having a spare means up to six days before it’s time to panic, although in reality, I try to empty every couple of days or so, so much lighter! Placing the spare cassette in situ, while I go to empty means that the loo can always be used if I get talking to anybody, and when I do finally get back, that cassette then becomes the spare. A healthy dollop of Formil from Lidl keeps them both smelling sweet and it’s cheap enough to throw away daily if necessary.

I bought a van once and it had a water butt tap on the end of the cassette so you could drain it out of sight just by pulling it out a few inches.

Seems a bit excessive, throwing your cassettes away daily.
