Tips for securing hose pipe in filler

Here's a radical thought and it's free, try just holding it in and telling your lass you're very busy whilst leaning against the van.

Good one but I like to multi task. I like to sit on the bike and vape while tapping in nonsense on here while filling up.

Nothing daft about it at all! Works perfectly, costs nothing which was the whole point and they are in plentiful supply. I also finally got round to corking the electrics hole to ground under the dinette seat this morning with another Cava cork I had saved as I suspect as winter looms mices will have found the prospect of a winter in the van very attractive. Fits perfectly.

You are all being conned spending money on the proper accessories. Be like the Bear Grizzle of motorhoming like me and make use of what's around you.
far as I am concerned, life is too short to fart around like you do. sorry.

For your filler, this is by far the simplest solution - https://amzn.to/4f3wC6q

Yes, you have to spend a tenner to get it. If you want free, be 'free' to fart around with daft workarounds :)
One word of caution -- there's more than one type of filler. FWIW, I bought one of those and had to return it because it didn't fit my Fiamma filler. The image below, although it's in German, gives some idea of what's available -- and you need the one that actually fits your filler. The one for mine costs over £25, so I use an alternative method!

I looked at the picture he posted ... his Swift filler is identical to my Autotrail Filler. I linked to the adapter I bought for mine and which fits :)
The one in green in your image is absolutely not the one to get for him (I know it was just an example showing the varieties)

PS. Sometimes I don't even bother latching it on as it is quite tight and so stays in place as a friction fit anyway.

All academic anyway as Barry has a cork :D (I won't suggest checking that for a fit anywhere else after his Ruby tonight)

Bend some wire from a coat hanger into a U shape, bend the U so at least half hooks into the filler hole.

Rushed drawing about to go out.

FWIW, I too have an Autotrail, and the version my van needs is the one with the green tick (which is priced at over £25 :( ) I clicked the link you posted and Amazon told me I'd bought and returned it in 2019, hence my post to alert of the need to check which filler you have!

Now that Barry's got a cork, I suspect it's all good -- although I'd recommend attaching a bit of string and a sucker to it to prevent it from disappearing down the filler pipe if the worst comes to the worst!

I am worried about this forum. I deliberately didnt post this on FUCTS or FUN thinking I would get more "inventive" answers on here or preferably just plane daft answers. :(

Brilliant! Did you study technical drawing at school?

Coat hangers have so many uses. The Cork is still winning though I reckon.

Ah, so you didn't actually want a proper useful answer then? I'll bear that in mind in future when you post a question.

I'm guessing your filler didn't look like Barrys then?

Anyway, all academic as no sensible suggestions were actually wanted

Maybe drill a hole in the floor inside and just stick the hose in there to fill. Make it large enough to put fish in and you can have an aquarium?
wonder if that is "inventive" enough? all pointless, just like the original question.

The cork conceptwould be massively improved with the addition of a coat hanger.

I agree. If somehow the cork could be fixed to a swinging coat hanger and stuck on the side of the van above the filler. I'm thinking Grolsch bottle top style. Actually you could do away with the coat hanger altogether with one of these and they will look pretty cool.

Did you ever read Viz top tips David. Im guessing not.

Our Hobby does not like taking water on and spits back all the time. The fix is a short length of hose which actually reaches down into the tank. Only about a metre or so. Never fails.

Cheers
