Thoughts on France travel July/August - is it a risk?

I laughed when I read this. We have been in France for a month, with no trouble whatsoever. The only bonfire we saw was for St. John, and one or two lads were being silly with fireworks, but not near us. We stayed in a village and found they were having a party, with pop-up catering and dancing. We were made welcome. In fact we were welcomed everywhere. Don’t go to rough areas, or the centre of big cities and you’ll be fine. When in doubt, smile and make friends.
There is a photo on another Forum of a small town near Tours and what used to be the Bus Station until a week or so ago. As the OP said, why would you want to destroy services in your own neighbourhood?

Riots and cutting your nose off to spite your face often tend to go hand in hand, could a psychiatrist explain please.

Been here a week now….following the Tour de France. Seen absolutely nothing related to what’s being reported, the most extremes of which seems to be fake news.
Spoken to locals, including those of N African heritage, and there is definitely a sense of social injustice amongst ‘immigrant’ groups, but probably not much more than in UK. Treat everyone nicely and it’s reciprocated.
Come to France, the weather and (mostly) the people are welcoming.

This guy didn't let it put him off making his YouTube video about croissants :) Watch for the bin burning in the background:LOL:

@Moped did you decide to go or book for July / August?
We have decided to go to France but not before the beginning of August. Plan to do a bit of touring around western France using pre-booked CampingCar aires and others in areas of interest. Dune de Pilat closed last year due to fires so on the agenda this year. Then maybe in September head to either the med or northern Spain depending on whether La Clape (hills behind Gruissan) is open or not. They close if there is a fire risk and closed all last September which was disappointing.

Too much to do at home unfortunately.
