This could have implications for us too. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10268079/police-given-powers-arrest-travellers-and-seize-caravans/
Do folk think if i was on mainland if a police officer came to my van and i opened my mouth,i think i would loss the van im well sure, the cops dont know north or south lingo which is where most travelers come from.
We can say motorhomers are nothing like travellers, but what about all the vans who stay for months on a street with the van needing a damn good wash and all sorts of stuff stuffed underneath it. They are part of our community in the eyes of the local people and are a similar menace.
To give the other side, when I was nursing...we had a gentleman who was a Romany living at the local site. He was terminally ill and we went twice daily till he passed. He lived in a beautiful van which was sparkling clean as was most of the site. His family were so caring and respectful, and were lovely to us. We had several conversations with them about "travellers" who ruined things for "true Romany" gypsy's. They seemed to have the same attitude as motorhomers to those elements who leave rubbish, mess and spoil it for others.
I'm actually talking about vans that we see in seaside towns parked on the seafront, usually occupied by a single bloke. I don't really care if you want to call them travellers, Irish tinkers or Romany, they are in the eyes of the beholder a motorhomer that is destroying their neighbourhood and are associated with all other motorhomers.Someone who parks up on a street for months in a filthy van needing a good wash.
Are you talking about a van parked outside the owners home, or elsewhere.
If you are talking about elsewhere, then you can compare them with travellers.
As a matter of fact unlike what you state on line one, you have just described a traveller, not a Motorhomer. Travellers don’t need to be Romany to fit the bill, do they. Let’s not confuse the issue Sam. They may be part of our community to some, but surely we know better than that.
