soggy floor

The foam backed carpet which was in ours was in a similar state. Absolute rubbish, I wouldn't think any reputable place sells it now. We just went to a local carpet seller and got a bargain remnant, then cut out the shape using the old one as a template

We just buy a "runner" and throw when dirty

The blasted saga continues (there are time when I wished that I could really swear !!!!!) Damp, damp, damp etc. I think it is time for someone to pinch the van and set it on fire
In the back end where the lounge area is the n/s corner was/is spongy so I put a membrane around it and installed a fabric liner all round the area (a proper one), then scraped out the joints at the back and squirted the recommended white sealant liberally into the joints and also stuck a length of angled plastic to deflect the running water........so far so good.
So back to the soggy floor; after a couple of days ripping out the two layers of carpets and scraping the remains of foam backing off the boards, we are now ready to do the re-bonding of the separated laminates. Oh no we're not!

Poo, poo, poo. What we assumed was just a damp spot by the hab. door, it's not. Today it's just as wet as it was on Friday morning and pushing the forward side of the door frame it's just like a sponge. So this morning it's ladder out and buttocks clenched it was time to check the frame. There's an 8th of an inch gap at the forward corner, so hopefully problem found. Having spent a couple of hours scraping out joints, tightening screws and squirting copious quantities of sealant into the gaps and all along the frame and also fabricating a deflector and fitting it over the door, it shouldn't get any worse. Heater and de humidifier installed for tonight.
Ah well

The car failed its MOT yesterday too, there are times when I hate having an electric oven

Well the good news, car now has a new osf lower wishbone assembly (£99 inclusive !!!) and a new MoT certificate to boot

Soggy floor area is drying out nicely and todays sunshine has worked wonders. I'm probably going to sort out a method of internal bracing to stiffen things, still awaiting the floor bonding kit though. What the heck, it looks as if we'll have a whole year to nail the tin tent back together, then look out Europe !

Ok folks, now another cry for help. I've now reached a point where I aspire to the level of being incompetent. Carver Water heater!! Ours sprung a massive leak/seal failure, but a dear friend Dave (Yorklass Sue's carer !!) guided me through the overhaul of said device, so I did it and refitted it and the blessed thing leaked although not quite as impressively this time, but as we were about to go away I bypassed it and on our return I pulled it out again and stuck it on a shelf and one of our dear members fabricated a cover plate for the void. Then we were off to Portugal, who needs hot water there, not us. But having been chucked out at the end of March and with nowt to do, the old tin tent became my focus

So dear friends, is there anyone who can revive our hot water thingy, I've got all the new bits but not the nous I don't even mind paying, but she who must be obeyed hates cold showers. I can send it via Herpes.

At least you're not moaning about being bored, young Peter..
Another day, another challenge.. Another dragon to slay.

My overcrowded memory throws up that ...
When Truma bought Carver to kill off a competitor, There was a firm who specialised in reconditioning the Cascade units.
A quick Google doesn't look too edifying, but there are items on Gumtree, eBay, etc , plus YouTube videos aplenty.
You could always PM that big- hearted, savvy, Ral, the idol Sod . AKA @izwozral
Hes obviously got time on his hands, looking at his posts.

Mention my name and he might be able to navigate the pitfalls of online purchasing.
Good luck, Chum !

Buy a bigger kettle to heat water. (y)

Arc Systems based in Nottingham are Carver repair specialists. Might be worth giving them a ring and see if they will repair it for you.
There is also someone on eBay that does repairs. A quick google will find them.
This fella ?

This fella ?
That’s the fella!
There are also new replacement water heaters available that appear to be copies of Carver heaters. They are called Henry
I would be very wary of them, I bought a replacement Henry burner for my Cascade and it almost set our van on fire. It was poorly made, poorly insulated and burnt a hole in the vans floor before I noticed it was on fire.
The importers and sellers ignored my phone calls and emails.
