Sad Demise

Couldnt disagree with you there, its a shame we dont have a goverment that stands on its own two feet and fights it own battles, less wars and more prisons, life sentances being life, and paedophiles and rapists kept out of the public domain for good. And how about working for the dole doing jobs in the community to bring back a bit of work ethic which is lacking in the work shy of the jobless market. The world does not owe you a living, alcoholics and drugies to no longer be termed as incapasitated.OHHH and disabled badges please for the genuine disabled

Stop pussyfooting about. Have a good instead!

Yes, this is very off topic now.

I vote for Derek to be a mod and lock this :D

Not true about America.

Osama was up to his tricks when I was in the Middle East in the late 70`s. They just were not as wel organised globally.

put quite simply its religon as a whole i have a problem with,i take people at face value but if you like it or not its Islam that is causing most of the problems in the world, i just remember hearing the screams as that poor hostage had his head hacked of a few years ago and its Islamic terrorism that we are currently at war with. Its also Hamas that is launching missiles into Israell and the Muslim world finds Israel retaliating unacceptable all the while the innocent Muslims of Lebanon who just want peace have been suffering and lost their lives. John I would love to go to the far east and visit some Muslim countries but in truth it scares me i have always wanted to go and visit Petra for instance but i would not put my self and that of my wife at risk that is religon and Islam for you.
Our troops are stuck in Afganistan and if we succeed or not will in my opinion be down to the Pakistani goverment and its army doing their jobs in driving Bin Laden and his band of Psychopaths into a corner.
If Pakistan doesnt do its job then we may as well pull out of Afganistan now.

In my short life JOHN i have met a lot of people from all sorts of faiths and i have never been hassled or felt pressured into joining any of these faiths,i am an Agnostic and people should be left alone to practice whatever religon they have chosen.I am fine as i am and do not need to be in any kind church to make me feel that i am going to heavon or some such thing.

One of my best freinds father who i knew well was involved in the battle of cable street against the fascists,he was the instigator of the group of 43 who consisted of war veterens and special forces.Gerry my freinds dad was a hero of many battles and wars and had even been lucky to have escaped from one concentration camp.He was a fascinating man and lived one hell of a life. You would have to live quite a few lives to come close to the life he led.Just imagine having fought for your country done Arnham and all that and come home to see the likes of Oswald Mossley and his band of blackshirt fascists marching around London.Anyhow these 43 group of men which was the original group, fought and recruited, and eventually defeated the Fascists.
Go and read a book by Morris Beckman entitled" The 43 Group which is a great read.
I was really good pals with his son and a few of us used to have a lot of laughs and great discussions.
His dad died a couple of years ago now,but he died as he lived fighting to the end.

My point is John i do not advocate the ranking out of certain groups or individuals for special attention shall we say,but we have a big problem in this country and it is radicalism and immigration and its a topic of conversation that politics wants nothing to do with as it fears being labled RASCIST. We have too many people in this country,we are packed to the rafters becouse we have been dictated to by the EU and are and have been for many years been run by the growing European super state. The UK has been raped of its powers by Europe and is a victim of one party politics for as long as i remember.

Anyhow can i interest you in a bible....?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is it is you who is missing out on some wonderful experiences by your blanket view that Islam is the biggest evil in the world today. Some of the friendliest and welcoming people I have ever met have been in Middle Eastern countries - especially in Syria and Jordan. Further, if you took the trouble to meet Islamic communities in this country you would realise that it is only a small minority of women who wear the veil, that some of the most dynamic leaders of what is left of our economy are Islamic (both men and women) and that women in Islam can and have reached the highest levels, including Prime Minister (of Pakistan). To judge the whole Islamic world by the Taliban or Al Qaeda is like judging the western world by the actions of the Mormons in Utah. Oh - and I will have to decline your offer of a bible - I'm a fully paid up atheist. Try to enjoy life - its much more fun.

How about the part of the Qur'an which says that a man can beat a woman if she disobeys him? And the part which says that Black people will not be judged? And that if a Muslim woman cries Rape her claim must be backed up by the confirmation from four adults of impeccable character? At least the bible doesn't tell us to behead non believers!

Maybe not, but I vaguely remember it not being a particularly charitable wee tome either.

Here we go again - have you read the Bible?! Both the Qur'an and the Bible were written in very different times. Personally I have no time for either book but I can peacefully co-exist with the vast majority of people who call themselves Christians or Muslims and who are desperately trying to present a more modern image of their religions in the face of histories that both would rather forget. Ask any priest or imam and the overwhelming majority of them will tell you that their religions are religions of peace and tolerance. I even once, in Aswan, had a long conversation with a self-confessed Taliban supporter who told me that he had no problems with either Jews or Christians because they were all followers of essentially the same book. It was Hindus and Buddhists that he wanted to fight! There are some pretty wierd folk out there so please don't add to the total.

I think John we shall call it a day on this thread im sure i will miss out on no sleep by avoiding muslim countries. There are other more beautiful countries and interesting people elsewhere in the world,a life time of joy and pleasant memories.I remember how upset you got with the freedom of the generator posts each to their own, maybe we can talk about such topics of conversation over a beer some day, alas if i have a generator with me and i am using it their are ways to approach things in life you ask nicely and i switch it off for you or you could ask nastily and i would tell you to **** off the choice is yours.
Thats how i approach life and quite easy to get along with really.:)

I don't remember bringing religion into the thread, it has been interesting, so long as no one has fallen out or holds any grudges guys :)

True, true, 'tis almost as bad a subject as adaptors or angling for provoking a good barney.

As you say though, no grudges should be held.
