Sad Demise

There is some truth in that John.

Recently, a story was going round about a wildie who had spent a week on a Scottish Island and was heard to brag that it only cost him £9 for the week.

That was mean and does not help our cause, especially when we need to convince local councils that we spend a lot of money on local services.

That story is true, Maingate - I was on Skye when it was reported in the West Highland Free Press. The interesting thing was that the next week the paper had several letters and articles from people saying he was not typical and that most local traders welcomed the wildcampers because of what they spent - so, thankfully, there are people around who don't brand whole communities because of the actions of a few. I just ask people to remember this when commenting on other communities.

I think you have a very valid point.

I find it interesting that a lot of peeps resentful of immigrants, decide they want to emigrate and become an immigrant !!

It must be true of Spain and was certailnly true of the Dordogne, the Brits all resided and bought properties in specific communites. No different to Bradford ?.

Sometimes it does seem pot calling kettle black!!

The irony of the matter sails over many heads I'm afraid.:(

The differance is i would learn the lingo and integrate myself into another society.Go to Bradford and you will not find much integration there, just islam trying to ban xmas and take over the world.

Oh dear!

BTW do you eat at any of their restaurants, get your prescriptions from any of their doctors, get driven around by any of their bus drivers, use buildings designed by any of their architects, watch soap operas featuring any of their actors, buy milk from any of their shops etc etc etc........

If I don't have the same outlook on life as you (and I clearly don't) then why do you assume that all of the Muslim community in this country have the same views?

The reason I quoted Bradford, Is I lived there briefly....Have you ?

So I can talk of firsthand experience.

Actually it is white left wing councils advocating Christmas is possibly offensive to muslims. I must admit I was surprised at the Happy Doowahli sign ( wrong spelling I know ) and even further disgruntled at Bradford councils decision that flying St Geroges flag was not a good idea St Georges day. And yes I took no notice. And the asians I spoke and know didnt give a four x about us celebrating xmas ...they were has happy as larry to visit Headingly once a year when England played Pakistan.....It was the politicians causing the rumpus.

However I reiterate a lot of this political correctness Bollox is more to do with councils who are predominently white but common sense left the window a long time ago, Of course let it not be lost we voted them there!!!.

Most not all asians I came across wanted integration as much as I do...Furthermore they spoke fluent English to answer Your other observation.

When I was running the pub I had a curryoke night as a bit of a laff and it was a belter ...we ran out of take away cartons....Guess who helped me out the local takeaway guy ...asian as you like ...no Conditions no charge ...just helping out.

Sorry but at best naive to suggest that any section of our community 2009 is this that or the other ...

There is simply good bad ...right and wrong...and it touches whatever community background sexual persuasion etc you want to try and measure.

Perhaps a day late for St. Andrews but although written 211 years ago, is still very pertinent.

A Man's a Man for A'that
Is there for honest poverty,
That hangs his head, an' a' that?
The coward slave we pass him by,
We daur be puir for a' that,
For a' that, and a' that,
Our toils obscure, and a' that;
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that.

What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin-grey and a' that,
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine;
A man's a man for a' that.
For a' that and a' that,
Their tinsel show and a' that,
The honest man, though ne'er sae puir,
Is king o' men for a' that.

A king can mak' a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, and a' that;
But an honest man's aboon his micht,
Gude faith, he maunna fa' that!
For a' that, and a' that,
Their dignities and a' that,
The pith o' sense, and pride o' worth,
Are higher ranks than a' that.

Then let us pray that come it may,
As come it will, for a' that,
That sense and worth, o'er a' the earth,
May bear the gree, and a' that.
For a' that, and a' that,
It's comin' yet, for a' that,
When man to man, tne warld o'er,
Shall bnithers be for a' that.

seems we have lost your post too

I DONT ASSUME THAT ALL THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY HAVE THE SAME VIEWS.
Islam is a very real danger in this country and worldwide.I feel sorry for the innocent muslims who practise their religon quietly without trying to tell me what i can or cannot do with my life,or what religon i should be practicing.
According to Islam i being agnostic is worse than not buying into any religeon crap at all.Down here in Devon we are very differant from the midlands and large areas of the country,we dont have mosques taking over the area thank goodness and i feel safe, which is more than i can say if i was living in Birmingham. This also means that i can say no to most of your questions apart from i do watch Eastenders and to say i can always turn the telly off if i wish to do so,also take note the way homosexuals are treated by Islam amongst other sections of their society.
Maybe if you were a female and made to wear a tent in the baking sun in say Afghanistan and be treated like a sex slave or being regularly beaten you may wake up to yourself man.

And no i dont share your outlooks on life not when it comes to religon obviously.
Horses for Courses.

Then be careful what you say - including that you wouldn't be safe in Birmingham. Fundementalist Christians are just as adement that non-believers are beyond the pale, they are just as opposed to the rights of women (look at the dispute over female bishops in the C of E at the moment) and to the rights of gay people (again, look at the disputes within the Anglican community) - and don't imagine that there aren't white Brits who treat their women like sex slaves. The point is that there are good people and *******s in every community and you seem too ready to claim that the majority of fault lies within one community.

put quite simply its religon as a whole i have a problem with,i take people at face value but if you like it or not its Islam that is causing most of the problems in the world, i just remember hearing the screams as that poor hostage had his head hacked of a few years ago and its Islamic terrorism that we are currently at war with. Its also Hamas that is launching missiles into Israell and the Muslim world finds Israel retaliating unacceptable all the while the innocent Muslims of Lebanon who just want peace have been suffering and lost their lives. John I would love to go to the far east and visit some Muslim countries but in truth it scares me i have always wanted to go and visit Petra for instance but i would not put my self and that of my wife at risk that is religon and Islam for you.
Our troops are stuck in Afganistan and if we succeed or not will in my opinion be down to the Pakistani goverment and its army doing their jobs in driving Bin Laden and his band of Psychopaths into a corner.
If Pakistan doesnt do its job then we may as well pull out of Afganistan now.

In my short life JOHN i have met a lot of people from all sorts of faiths and i have never been hassled or felt pressured into joining any of these faiths,i am an Agnostic and people should be left alone to practice whatever religon they have chosen.I am fine as i am and do not need to be in any kind church to make me feel that i am going to heavon or some such thing.

One of my best freinds father who i knew well was involved in the battle of cable street against the fascists,he was the instigator of the group of 43 who consisted of war veterens and special forces.Gerry my freinds dad was a hero of many battles and wars and had even been lucky to have escaped from one concentration camp.He was a fascinating man and lived one hell of a life. You would have to live quite a few lives to come close to the life he led.Just imagine having fought for your country done Arnham and all that and come home to see the likes of Oswald Mossley and his band of blackshirt fascists marching around London.Anyhow these 43 group of men which was the original group, fought and recruited, and eventually defeated the Fascists.
Go and read a book by Morris Beckman entitled" The 43 Group which is a great read.
I was really good pals with his son and a few of us used to have a lot of laughs and great discussions.
His dad died a couple of years ago now,but he died as he lived fighting to the end.

My point is John i do not advocate the ranking out of certain groups or individuals for special attention shall we say,but we have a big problem in this country and it is radicalism and immigration and its a topic of conversation that politics wants nothing to do with as it fears being labled RASCIST. We have too many people in this country,we are packed to the rafters becouse we have been dictated to by the EU and are and have been for many years been run by the growing European super state. The UK has been raped of its powers by Europe and is a victim of one party politics for as long as i remember.

Anyhow can i interest you in a bible....?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might i also add John that we live in a country that as far as i am aware we live under the laws of the country made by an elected goverment, rather than that of religous laws. Most religons in England abide by our laws. Not all religons like to recognise our laws.

The "war on terror/islam" is an American invention so they can secure oil for their petrol guzzling economy and pander to the Jewish financial muscle that has backed up many of their Republican electoral successes.

America has been just as big a terrorist in the past, invading or dominating various countries by clandestine means for it's own political aims. The same as British Colonialism in the 19th C. It's just exploitation and subjugation by another name.

Just because they have been nominally our ally, it doesn't make what they do right.

Couldnt disagree with you there, its a shame we dont have a goverment that stands on its own two feet and fights it own battles, less wars and more prisons, life sentances being life, and paedophiles and rapists kept out of the public domain for good. And how about working for the dole doing jobs in the community to bring back a bit of work ethic which is lacking in the work shy of the jobless market. The world does not owe you a living, alcoholics and drugies to no longer be termed as incapasitated.OHHH and disabled badges please for the genuine disabled
