Turns out the bloke that sold me the tank off ebay is from Darlington. Runs a car sales and service business up Whessoe road. As its just down the road he has just been and dropped it off tonight! Hows that for service. We had a look under the bonnet and it looks identical. My neighbour passed and said he would fit it as well!
Ive also quizzed the guy about having a look at the cold starting issues and crunchy third and fifth gear.
Bit of a result. Fingers crossed it goes in and dont leak!!

One of my first thoughts was something similar, then I looked at the position of the pipe and decided against it because it needs a flat surface to seal, it would certainly work in other applications though

Errr. Kind of. We got it fitted and I did a bit of a test drive. Seemed ok but after a while when I popped the bonnet once it was fully warmed up I noticed a tiny streak of a dribble on one hose down the side of the tank (the one on the bit that broke before) but I think my neighbour just didnt tighten it enough as I was able to give it a fair bit of tightening with the screwdriver. Since then Ive not been able to use it. Its going for MOT 22 miles away on Wednesday so ill ask them to also check it and test the coolant. Touch wood its going to be ok but I wont know until its had a real proper run out.
