Oops. Big bang. Bent suspension?

Good stuff :)

One boring "housekeeping" question..... What kind of coolbox did you buy? Asking as the typical 'coolbox' with the fan on top - the Peltier type - is extremely inefficient on both power and cooling ability. Given you are likely power-challenged doing tent camping from a car, a compressor coolbox would be far better.
(You may well have taken this into account and I am "preaching to the converted" but just in case)

So Pleased for you hAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS and still cannot type straight have heard good thing about frasers enjoy your trip to foreign shores dont get sold to the local harem enjoy your trip
So lovely to hear from you. More likely to go to Rochdale as closer and apparently Ageas don't have engineers in Scotland!!!
Posting trip on PolarSteps app ... look for Katherine Clune. Take care you. X

Hi David
Bought a Dometic compresser fridge a few years ago ... but it's in Crete!!! With the additional costs of buying a tent, airbeds beds etc (all of which we have in Crete!), I went cheap. So an electric coolbox, 30 litre, with vent on top. But only £30 Ebay!
Also have a gas and electric hob, plus orange cable/ socket thing (got another in Crete!!) so can run power to the tent. Have brought spare regulator and hose for a Moroccan gas bottle too. Just sad I had to leave my instant pot behind as no room.

You may get hooked on this tent camping lark, I still love it.

Julie not so keen though.

I used to love the tent and motorbike, didn’t always need the tent in France with it being warmer, just lay down and sleep. I wouldn’t have been bothered about niceties then though, spare tee shirt, beer beans and petrol would do lol

Enjoy it 👍

Went 'Cycle-camping' around the west country with a friend after the O levels. Basically followed the coast line around Devon and Cornwall for around 10 days. Didn't actually pack a tent at all for some reason, just a tarp to hang over tree branch, that kind of thing. Couple of nights in a "audax hotel" (aka Bus Shelter), along with part-built houses. Luckily the weather was good!

Still love tent camping with the bike Neil although it's a lot more comfortable these days as opposed to when I was a youngster with a tarp (like David) and a hex stove. I was posher than you though, I had beans with sausages in them (if you could call them that!)

Major issue I had on that trip was not a lack of a tent but the lack of looking 18 years old (which I wasn't anyway) and so ordering a pint in a pub! Friend was a bit younger but apparently appeared close enough to 18 to get the drinks in.

UPDATE

The motorhome has been fixed. Yay! Bill was just under £10,500 including the transport. Our excess was £500.

It has just been returned to the farm we use near Chichester for storing until we get back in time for Christmas. Perfect.

Ageas also covered the cost of repairing the habitation door lock as a gesture of goodwill.

So we are happy happy happy. And once Ageas and the Technical Mgr at Halo took the repair out of the hands of the standard car repair team, the service was brilliant.

Much as we miss being in the motorhome, touring Morocco in the car with a tent and accommodation, is much easier. We can drive into cities. And we've driven amazing mountain passes not accessible in a big heavy vehicle. So having a really good time, despite typing this from a deflated airbed!
