Feed up with a car parked (dumped) in our street since December I grassed on it. I check online first and it has no MOT.
Reported it on line and this is the response:

"Thank you for your online report.
With regards to this, Police need to catch a vehicle being driven with no MOT to act on this. If you are to see this vehicle being driven, please call and report this, providing their location and direction of travel so that we can raise a live log with this information."

So seems alls ok not to have a MOT, surprised me! At least I didn't get done for wasting police time ;)

Doesn’t need a mot to sit in the street but it will need to be taxed.

I would phone your local Police Station and speak to someone personally. As Nige says, if it’s not taxed it shouldn’t be on the public road.

It's taxed, just before MOT ran out.
Haven't check insurance, but my understanding was insurance is invalid if not MOTed
Live 'n let live Trev, but parking is difficult at best on our road so a dumped car isn't helping that. And I know I don't own the road or have any right to park near my house:rolleyes: . Guess i'm lucky it's not on bricks, yet!

False idols come to mined

Yep no mot is ok . They will be going to mot station for your next call. So they can drive it away in eyes of the law also, November 2023. Lol

Devil and idle hands

If you want to be for community and If you have spare time, fill in the government's digital share. Survey on line as your like that !. befor march 1st. Its taxing.

I wild camp in a country you can't !.

This reminds me of something in the mid-90's.... my GF at the time had a flat in North London and owned the Driveway and its use. Upstairs neighbour (a right waste of space) allowed her boyfriend to leave and effectively dump his car in the driveway.
got fed up after a while, called the council ... "can't do anything. call the Police". Called the police ..." it is on private property. can't do anything. call the Council".
In the end, just pushed the car onto the road, but couldn't get it positioned very well due to steering lock. So there I was with a big screwdriver and hammer trying to break the ignition (I'm not a car thief so don't need to know the best techniques that will no doubt be posted ;) ) and about 3 different people walking past didn't query what I was doing beyond asking if I needed any help breaking the lock .
Car stayed there for a day or so on the roadway, untaxed and almost definately uninsured and un-MOTed. No authority interested to remove despite being just over the brow of a hill, so we then pushed it over to the other side of the road in front of a builders house.
I think it would be correct to say that Irish Builders (this was a part of North London that was like Little Ireland) don't like cars dumped in front of their houses so we knew it would not stay there for long ;)
Next day, no car (y)

You can insure an UnMOTed vehicle with no problems and lots are (Even ones over 3 years old)
You can't Tax an uninsured or unMOTed vehicle though.

Can be a problem parking these days, a non mot does not effect the ins as many here have a long time to get one from booking, but ins co say keep driving police are not stopping anymore, my van mot is up but 3 mths w time, im still rolling.

Then shouldn`t you be booking it for MOT earlier ?

No MOT Doesn't invalidate the insurance,
(insurance companies have a duty to maintain at least 3rd party cover )
It does mean in the event of an accident that it's likely that the policy holder won't be getting paid out for their losses .
And the insurance company would likely chase through the courts to recover their losses though .
It's also a none endorsable offence,so plainly not considered massively serious by the law makers either
