Morrisons ( REFUSE TO FILL LPG)

Back to the topic, close reading of the bullet points outlaws the filling of LPG cylinders, specifically Safefill and Calor. No gas cylinders to be filled on the forecourt. So filling underslung tanks (being part of the vehicle) would be allowed if the policy was correctly implemented. It's covered by the phrase "filling their vehicle" and underslung tanks not being the specifically outlawed Safefill or Calor cylinder.
I rather suspect (going off my previous experiences with MFG) that the staff will just refuse to activate the LPG pumps for anything other than a dual fuel car.

The fuel stations are often solo staffed and they are not going to leave the tills to coma and check what you are filling IF it's anything but a car.

To be honest I gave up with Morrisons for LPG ages back.... Too hit and miss whether the pumps were working.
And since I swapped to a diesel heater/240v fridge
I've only occasionally filled up at my local, bulk lpg suppliers.... Cheaper AND they are always happy to take my cash.

Discrimitry would do for one after reading the rules, our courts dont have a limit on what you can get either.
Discrimination..... For refusing to sell LPG

Give over

I doubt there's a chance in hell that would stick.

IF you've said as usual "they would be kneecapped By balaclava wearing bad men"

I might have (almost) taken you seriously

Yes but if staff point blank refuse there is not much you can do unless you take a court case against them which will cost you if you dont win.
Yep, not much you can do on the spot Trev. At least not much you can do that would be helpful. My point, really, see post #28, is that in a few months the over interpretation of the policy will fade, once the (understandable) organisational panic after the fires, is over .

Not even that Chris. I think my 2 6v Trojans gave me 240AH at 12V but then not all useable as you say. I thought they were the Bees Knees to be honest and resisted Lithiums for years.

Just my opinion , you can only fill a tank that is used for road fuel I hope I'm wrong

I think that's how some forecourt staff are interpreting the stated policy (or have been told to interpret it), but that's not what it actually says (see actual policy post #113)

Its not discrimination though. It would be if they said they are not selling LPG to motorhomes driven by Irish men or dodgy geezers pretending to be Rock stars. Its a blanket ban however on filling any kind of LPG system for everyone other than for vehicle propulsion. They can also state their case for such a ban as well following two fires and their insurance company refusing to cover them in the future (or at least that is what was implied).

The second fire (Doncaster has been mentioned) was at Wellingborough. It destroyed the van conversion, not motorhome in the accepted public sense, and damaged three pumps and the overhead fittings. The guy was treated on scene and then transported to hospital in Northampton. One of the Firemen on scene has said he was refilling a non refillable cylinder with an adapter. But when I asked if it was Calor, he said he was not sure but maybe. So I guess it could have been one of the standalones, such as Safefill. (others are available!) And that is the danger. Allowing the filling of standalones, it is wide open to abuse by the entitled.

I still have to fill our LPG tank, I was going to do it after the last thread about this ( https://wildcamping.co.uk/threads/morrison-lpg.101878/page-2#post-1491201 ) but life got in the way. I will report back once I have actually done it!

Well there we have it then. If the story is true and it sound like it is then its no wonder this has happened really. If it was a dodgy calor filler then once again the few bad apples have spoilt it for the rest of us. It would make sense for the insurance company to then say we will pay out this time but wont in the future if you allow the filling of anything but cars.

Its one of the reasons I didn't spend £1500 on a underslung tank. Well that and the stations just disappearing in general. Bugger.

I had an underslung tank fitted, that was then, no way would I these days, mainly because next van will be electric cooking, and I ain't having an underslung tank just for BBQ point, 😂

I'm half tempted to see if I can get it filled, but I'm wanting it empty so I can get rid of it.
