Morrisons ( REFUSE TO FILL LPG)

Neil you must be of Scottish blood ,if I posted that they'd say (typical tight gitttttt😀)nice one mate like it
Well my Step Mother was a Scot Gordon and I guess it got in my blood lol. Was always our intention to retire to Scotland but after Caz had that bad illness a few years back we decided best if she was nearer the kids.

North of the border is where I spend a lot of time though and who knows, one day... :)

Its not a case of old habits die hard Bill. I understand the advantages and disadvantages and right now for our current needs the system we have works.

Lets work out the ball park cost if I was to change what is currently a working system. These are off the top of my head so please feel free everyone to correct my calculations.

2 x Fogstar 300s. (say £1300)
Extra 300w solar £300
6kw diesel heating system inc install £3500
Compressor fridge (large) £1000
Electric cooker induction hob thing £600
Cabling, fittings new controllers alternator changes, 240v charger etc etc lets say £500

Fitting of all the solar and other bits £1000+ (assuming I Can't bribe Merl to do it with cider).

Where are we at so far? £8200. Quite a chunk of money. Thats a lot of LPG. :D

I would say for us it would be a case of if its not broken don't fix it and when it is broken then look at it.
I know you rock gods are loaded, but your costings are way too high. :)

European manufacturers have a much larger market to aim at [using total EU population as a proxy, about 7.5 times higher than UK], Rob, and Aire-based camping, rather than pure 'sites with EHU' is more popular. At the minute, the manufacturers get away with fitting old tech, but with the increasing need to compete for sales, the competitive advantage of offering lithium batteries + sensible levels of solar power [facilitation v obstructionism] plus the economies o scale make an attractive proposition, especially now that the major players can no longer just sit on their corporate ar$es and watch the money roll in. And, if they do it right, they can boast of their contribution to fighting climate change - useful ammunition when working with EU policy makers

Good points Steve.

I just wanted to be involved! :ROFLMAO:

All of them or just some of them? I did google the batteries and heating system

Those are about right Barry, but Solar's come down loads, a double induction hob maybe £100 or so and you can get Diesel heating for a lot less, and you could get a single Fogstar 608AH for under a grand.

In some instances though cheaper isn't always the way to go so you could be right with the heating. You're right though, it won't be cheap.

Yep. Exactly and if I ever do it I would want to do it properly. Its a big van ours so it means a powerful heater and a big fridge. For a huge van though the usable roof space is crap. Mind you if I lost Jodrell bank off the roof it would make a big difference. Its days are numbered make no mistake. :D

Linking to the 'Old Jokes that make you groan'[Title?], can I enter 'I have some chickens going cheep; well, you wouldn't expect them to quack, would you?' :ROFLMAO:

You do know that the Morrison filling stations are no longer owned my Morrison the supermarket. They were sold off a year or 2 ago and are now owned by a different company. That is no doubt the reason for their change in applying rules.

I did post the circular from MFG (motor fuels group) in post #3

There's, nothing that Morrisons staff can (or should)
Do about folks not being allowed to refill.

When I bought the new van I asked if they could fit another 230a battery. I answer I got was to take it as it was and see how we got on with it. If you do not need it then it is a waste of money and pointless, but if I really wanted one then he would be happy to take my money and do it. Needless to say I will take his advice and see how we go on when we get the van.
I think many times as with a lot of things people get carried away with numbers as I was going to do.

I know I did Chris.

I still regret not getting carried away a bit more though, it gives me confidence in the system. :giggle:

I think we still have a bit of a mixed up thinking that because we have room for huge capacities then get them, but If you were carrying 4 6v trojans you would have thought you had all the power you could want. A 230a lithium gives the same usable as the 4 Trojans at nearly the same size as a single 6vTrojan
Its' crackers really or so it seems. :ROFLMAO:
I've never had anything to do wlth Lithium batteries and know diddly squat about them. It looks like I may be on a bit of a learning curve.;)

Not even that Chris. I think my 2 6v Trojans gave me 240AH at 12V but then not all useable as you say. I thought they were the Bees Knees to be honest and resisted Lithiums for years.

Back to the topic, close reading of the bullet points outlaws the filling of LPG cylinders, specifically Safefill and Calor. No gas cylinders to be filled on the forecourt. So filling underslung tanks (being part of the vehicle) would be allowed if the policy was correctly implemented. It's covered by the phrase "filling their vehicle" and underslung tanks not being the specifically outlawed Safefill or Calor cylinder.

Yes but if staff point blank refuse there is not much you can do unless you take a court case against them which will cost you if you dont win.
