Lest ye forget.....

Those 2 Officers have been cleared of any offence.

At the same time, Dorset Police have sacked a long serving Officer for "not showing respect and courtesy" while arresting a teenager armed with a knife while being surrounded by a gang of other teenagers. This was despite an independent witness seeing what was happening and dialling 999 to inform the Police that one of their Officers was in urgent need of assistance.

I could show you the actual footage on YT but Admin would take it down due to its source. But it is out there if you look for it.
I read the report yesterday, un frigging believable.

Those "hurty words" were an incitement to violence! She was calling for the burning down of hotels that housed asylum seekers. You really think that is OK? Given that others had done the same and had actually caused destruction and injury? She is local to us and as a CONservative councillor, should have known better. Yes this old guy was treated badly and it cost him his life, but there can be no excuse for stirring up racial hatred and violence!

And really? "hurty words"? Jeez...
Posted without researching the 'real' background to the story, and now I know more cannot defend what I posted.

You seem to have an issue with the modern day vernacular "hurty words". Why?

Not the words, the connotation! That phrase is generally used to defend the indefensible. Such as this stupid woman. It is used by racists to try and lesson the impact of the actions of others. So let me ask you this. If I was to threaten to do someone some damage because I didn't agree with their view and I was thrown off the site, would I get the same defence? Of course not, that rule is there to protect. Why should it be different when out in the big wild world where people are infinitely more likely to take it as an order?

Whilst I partly agree with your viewpoint, the term 'hurty words' can and is directed in ways other than incitement to violence.
The kick back against the term has seen many people, such as comedians, script writers, authors, song writers and the public at large, forcibly silenced because of the threat to their lively hood.
To ban words that some find offensive is censorship, censorship is one very slippery slope imho.
Of course we should self censor, do our bit for social cohesion and all that but I personally draw the line at gagging someone simply because some faint hearted snowflake (another modern term)👍find words offensive simply because they don't conform to their 'social justice warrior' (yet another one) values.

I still think that politicians wife has been singled out, by an ever increasing authoritarian prime minister and she should be freed immediately.
Anyway, enough said on my part because I really don't want Phil spanking my bottom.

Again! 😉

On second thoughts, I did rather enjoy it, particularly when he used a wet kipper!

I'm not sure the problem is being offended by the "hurty" words themselves its how the are used. If someone calls me a right "C*nt" I wouldn't care. If someone said "he's a right C*nt lets burn his house down with him in it" I might. The issue is not the word "C*nt" and I take no offence if you call me one. I might even be one for all you know! :D

Correct Barry, you are one!

You are still an outstandingly good, just below average guitar player though.

Just to add: Didn't the lass remove the post once she calmed down from her seething anger at what had happened? That's my understanding anyway.

And the point is missed! On the post, this was directly aimed at those who thought it OK to bring someone to task for inciting violence against others. As far as I can find, it was used by Farage to defend those calling for violence against "foriners". I can fond no reference to it in general language anywhere else. Google it! And where have I even suggested banning anything or gagging anyone? It is not to my liking and I said so, but your post seems to be trying to censor me, by calling me a snowflake! Not directly, I'll grant, but I guess Jim would not look kindly on that and might have to censor you. I just pointed out that the term is inappropriate to use in the context of Lucy Connolly.

I'd like to know how she was "singled out"? Go google it and see the pages of people "singled out"! Then take a look at the page that says the police arrest 30 people a day for online abuse. Search engines can be very useful when you are trying to prove a point, or deciding that you have no argument. OK, enough from me.. I rest my case...

Does that rank as the most use of the "C" word, or similar, on a post? 😂 😂 😂

Can you show the instance where he defended those calling for violence against 'foriners'? From what I saw and read, he did the opposite.

Of course it would depend from which News source you follow, as some are economical with the facts. Like the BBC tonight reporting on the Ballymena disturbance. They called it a 'race riot', which contains some truth. They did not mention that it arose because a local teenage girl was sexually assaulted (not the first instance of this happening in the area) by young men who were not Irish.

The Connolly case isn't really a good case regarding "hurty words"
Hurty words is here to stay for now.

Anyway, she pleaded guilty so was never defended against an incitement to violence charge.

I didn't aim snowflake at you but if you want to own it, that is entirely up to you.

Who is Jim?
