If it's looks too good to be true........

Do these people still believe in Santa Claus?
If they have been looking at motorhomes surely they know that you cannot buy 2017 motorhomes for £27k.
And this is how the scammers get these people as they think they have bagged the bargain of the century.
Although it is a horrible thing to do, these people really need to wake up,
And at the very least get some advice before parting with cash.
Who on earth would part with £10k on something you haven’t even seen.
If it is such a bargain get in the car and get to Sheffield or were ever it is supposed to be.

Chap I know bought a merc after doing all the checks including ph the cop shop, had it home for a while and when he was away in the TA got a call from the wife, Hpco came and removed it from the drive, his wife did not know they require a court order to enter you property in N Ireland.

i feel for her . i know she was naive about the value , but she honestly believed the seller , and her good nature was taken advantage of by a common thief . i think most of us have fallen for scams in small ways perhaps , but i don't think she deserves the punishment she's suffered .

If it's looks too good to be true........

But once in a while it is genuine.

A bloke regularly posts in our local facebook group offering to unblock drains free for anyone over 65.

I always knew this was a scam but when our drain was blocked I gave him a ring anyway, quite prepared to tell him to do one when the scam emerged.

He turned up today; rodded the drains and got a lot of grease out.
But then wasn't happy with the way the sink was draining.
"Here comes the scam" I thought but he then cleaned out the sink waste pipe and now the sink drains like new.

No charge.

Sometimes it is good to be wrong.

And you never even offered a free cup of tea, tight g-t. 😂

Bit of a difference between a bit of drain rodding and a big chunk of Motorhome etc tho ?

This was a very elaborate scam and I feel very sorry for the nurse who just wanted a nice camper for her family to enjoy. Sadly many folks are unaware of the true value of these things and they think that because its on Ebay or Auto Trader its all genuine and proper.

When we were looking for a MH many years ago my good lady Joy saw a nice one for sale at a very reasonable price so she enquired (the advert was on Auto Trader with photos and looked genuine) she had an email back from the seller who was asking for a bank transfer to secure a holding deposit (£5k I think)
I was working away from home at the time so I asked her to get a telephone number for the seller..
the email that came back was something like this..

"Hello Joy and thank you very much for your interest in my motorhome. I have owned it for 3 years but after the passing away of my husband last year I cannot drive it anymore so it needs to be sold. Unfortunately I cant talk directly on the phone as I am working at a top secret British Army military base on the Isle of Wight and we cannot accept or make any telephone calls. However if you transfer the deposit monies into my bank account now then the motorhome will be secured solely for yourself. I will be on annual leave in a weeks time and then I can contact you with regards to collection and the final payment . Please don't delay with sending the deposit as I have many other people wishing to purchase my motorhome and I would hate for you to miss out on this fantastic opportunity"

Can you believe it?

The thing that really tickled me was the British armies "military base" on the Isle of Wight :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Don't these folks in Nigeria, or whatever else shite country they are scamming from, do their basic geography homework???
(also the email response was not as eloquent as in my citation.. it was full of bad spelling, punctuation and grammar.. probably some ethnic that can speak a bit of pigeon English)
I immediately reported the scam to Auto Trader and they straight away pulled the advert down.. wondering if anyone fell for it before the advert was pulled? hope not..

Some vans do turn up after deaths or just to old to drive, I knew of one went for butttons and was worth 3 times its value, I was going to have a crack but told no more cr-p comming here. :(

50K van for 27k, then offer a discount 👍😉. Apparently 2 people "bought it", double whammy.

I remember in the early days of eBay there was a fairly new BMW (think motorbike but may have been car but was BMW) and it was up for £5. It made the National news at the time as someone paid the £5 and got the vehicle.
Turned out the husband had been up to no good so the wife put his pride and joy on eBay, some of you probably remember. Was a darn good buy :)

Sounds a bit like the Motorway sell your car TV ad.
The women looks up and says to her husband "I just sold out car!" I expect the husband to reply: " WT* how'm I getting to work tomorrow! you stupid bitch"

I agree, must be great never erring, never being taken inn, always being right.
All I have for this woman is sympathy, all I have for the scammer is vitriol. Decent people are being scammed as I type, and perfect people are laughing at them.
It’s high time that eBay sorted this out, they should bear some if not all responsibility here. Yes she was naive, tempted by a good deal, but she did not deserve to be scammed, or laughed at, and she had the courage to go public, hopefully preventing others from suffering her loss.
