Hymer Electrics

Did you manage to find out if you had the Toptronic155 module? If so (on mine anyway) the step, porch light, Centre light all run through that module and would need bypassing for the step maybe

Well someone sent me schematic of the step wiring and it looks like it probably has because the wiring is so over complicated :unsure: I've got it tied up now and will resume work on Friday after my hospital appointment tomorrow (y)

On my little Hymer Exsis SG the step still works if you turn off the 12 volts at the panel. I'd probably start by checking for at least 12 volts at the black switch on the front cover and work forward/backward from there with the aid of the EBL circuit diagrams

The step and the frost protection valve on the water heater should still work with the 12v off

Yeah, well aware. I think the 2 amp fuses either end of a wire between hab and cab batteries are related to voltage sensing but can't remember if when corroded the whole shabang goes off (including step etc) or if you just can't switch on at the control panel. One relay should latch shortly after powering on the ebl99 and the other after switch on at the door control panel. I'm thinking the rocker at the front of the ebl99 is easy to pry out and will receive it's power before the first relay as you have to throw the switch to latch the first relay.

did you get your step sorted in the end? I can't remember.

Found this https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/ebl-99-internal-fuses.178279/ when browsing for your fuse location. Exact same fault as yours i.e. no hab power but also no step, which is relevant. There's also a 'solution' relating to the rocker on the EBL99

I think if there was anything wrong confined to communication between the door control panel and the EBL99 then the step would still work.

I can't remember what we talked about, but can you just bypass the electrics box and use a switch and relay instead?

Yes I think it was just a couple of relays to bypass all the original wiring and maintain the function where it auto retracts when you turn ignition key

It is as Del says though, you can’t just use the three wires that come from the switches themselves, it does nothing. Would either be working out exactly what it does or run new wiring
 
bloody hymer’s built from the inside out the walls/roof being fitted last , last week had a waste pipe blow off connection was behind a panel that required the removal of two fitted drawers before i could butcher a plywood panel to gain access the access & rebuild took 3 hours the refit & jubilee about 5 mins

Just an update for anyone who's interested, I now know where everything is fused, where Hymer have run all the cables etc. The step controller that Nabsim is talking about is located under the fridge and the front panel that covers it is screwed from the top under the actual fridge, I managed to cut through them and it comes out okay and I really can't see any need for them as there is also four screws from the front :mad: Worse than that there is a big junction block under there as well :unsure: Hymer obviously use one wiring loom for all their vans as there is 4 loops in the loom under there, probably because mine is only a six metres long but the voltage drops from 13.45v at the EBL end to 12.9v and the junction box on the end of that loom :eek: Anyhow along with help from my son I have now got the heater working, the fridge's electronics working, therefore the fridge now works on gas again and the water pump working. I have a much better idea how the EBL99 works, I know it has two faults, the switch doesn't turn on the leisure side and the one relay is faulty, I all so know that it's really a waste of time if like me you have your own mains charger and battery charging system when the engine is running. Tezza has kindly offered to let me have his relay and said if I post the EBL99 to him he would fit it and just to show what a top bloke he his he even offered to travel to my son's house in Telford and loan me his EBL99 for my upcoming European trip, thank you Tezza, you have shown that there are still some decent people about and thank you to everyone who has offerd me help and advice on this thread. (y)

if your going to france i know someone near rennes that repairs electroblocks whilst you wait if its posible
 
Glad you have made progress with this Del, I very nearly decided to do away with mine, only two reasons I didn’t in the end was I would need different tank gauge notification and the cut out above the door where the control panel goes. I liked the look of one of the combined Votronic control panels but it’s just more money and more to swap and really I just want to be enjoying it 👍
