how much!

Yeah, but you’re a proper tightwad, Trev 🤣😎

As an old friend of mine always says when we rib him about how tight he is “I’m not mean, just careful” 😜😉
My Brother is the opposite, his wife and himself spent 100grand on a new BMW & Rangrover for themselves, now she has had a stroke and cannot drive, anyway she had as much need for the rover as a frog has for pockets.

Would it be possible to get stone damage repaired on a headlight just like a windscreen You can buy repair kits on ebay so diy possible

On some headlights yes ....if its just a chip and you want to stop it turning into a goldfish bowl ....
However on the Hymer unit in the O/P the manufacturers have seen fit to use tempered glass (for safety) so it shatters into granules .

I'm not sure if we are allowed to put links to other forums (so I won't) but someone on another forum called GWAYGWAY did a decent repair on an Hymer headlamp and I know there is a member on here also called @GWAYGWAY so surely this is more than a coincidence? Maybe he will see this and come forward with some helpful suggestions?

Del

i have messaged graham (it’s the same guy) & he did make replacement plastic covers , i spoke to him just after i’d got the hymer and he was doing them on the basis of send him yours & he would repair that ready for the next one but that was about 5 years ago & luckily it’s not that frequent a replacement , there was an issue with stress points on the fitting which i eased off.

this has been tried and questioned at mot time but when i do get the replacement i may well take the glass ones of & store them & just refit them for mot s lol , they’re only fitted with double sided tape but i certainly don’t want another £2,500 bill
IF it was me facing this issue ...

I'd buy 2 sets of headlamp protectors ....

Then remove the mounts from one ...
Seperate the broken glass from the damaged headlight unit and clean the sealant ...
Trial fit the protector and adjust if necessary THEN
Bond on with sikaflex etc and
THEN fit the second protector on top
A to prevent future damage
B to hide the redundant mounting holes in the one you've used as a lens .

Might be a mad idea BUT it might just work .
