We didn't hear anything, and we're still the only vane here.

It was very cold here last night.

I wasn't joking about the Wild Boar. Well I was but in a similar wild spot in the woods in the Dordogne years ago one of them tried to mount our scooter rack about 6am in the morning. Its literally 2ft from my head at the back of the van and I absolutely sh*t myself. Had no idea WTF it was. Sounded and felt like a bomb had gone off. Woke up and flew outside to see what it was and it was off into the trees.

I can remember one year being away early in the south of France, April and May and it being 24c during the day but waking up in the morning to ice on the puddles. It can be like that. No real Gulf Stream effect. Much warmer night for us here last night. Wall to wall sunshine yet again this morning and Im just psyching myself up for the epic Thetford Run. Might see if I can top it up one last time first though.

All done and dusted. A fabulous early morning 32 mile round trip to the nearest Elsan point. There are a couple of public toilets a bit nearer but I don't like to use them. Just stunning though and a few jaws dropped on the Aire when I rode in on the bike, emptied the cassette and filled up 15 litres of water in three carriers (under the seat and topbox) and then rode off. Got back in time for a lovely hot shower and Michelle had a fab breakfast ready!

I cant wait to do it again!!

Absolutely fine. The Thetford full is only 20 litres I think, 5 litres under the seat and 10 litres in the top box but even Michelle on the back who is tiny weighs more than that so no bother. With the 25 litre carrier on the back and 3 x 5 litres thats still only 40kg so no bother. Just emptying the reserve into the tank now. Good thing about an external tank with a trap door. Easy to empty the carriers into.

I can go off down to Corrie about ten miles away and come back with another 40 litres if need be. So in theory we could stay in this spot all summer Losing the tap and loo at Lochranza just a mile or so away was a bit of a blow though.

Grey emptied, empty thetford, full water tank, wall to wall solar, batteries full. Always pleases me that.

Tides almost in enough to drop in the Kayak now as well.

I stuck the discs in a back pack then headed to my work, first roundabout that I use to fly round with no back pack, it was a brown pants moment as I just about fell off, due to the higher centre of gravity. Lesson learned.

Topping up water tank, I use the same method. I have a 20 litre blue bottle dispenser, the type you find within office drink fonts. Once turned upside down, I remove cork and let the water glug glug glug into the tank.

The little Honda Biff Chariot just takes it in it's stride. I love going off on a water hunt or Thetford empty. It's like a hunter gatherer thing I think.

At home or EU land, my secondary transport is my leccie bike, to which I attach the doggy hut, basically a trailer to put pooch in, except when top up is required, 20 litre bottle inside doggy hut and head to the nearest cemetery. Very rare not to find a working tap there.

Walked round the marina at L'Estratit today to admire the boats. Mostly plastic with horrible shapes and terrible transoms. Even one with it's boot open at the back whilst getting cleaned. Give me a traditional shape and preferably timber and especially if a sailing yot.
That's why our last dinghy was a Drascombe Lugger, although not timber.
Last couple of times we have visited Vannes, they had a couple of the 'little boats' from Britain moored permanently at the head of the harbour with history boards on the harbour walkway. Nice boats, not unlike this one.

I'm actually thinking about buying a Lugger or a Dabber at the moment Davy.

I can't sail but would give it a go, but I reckon it would make an excellent little motorboat for camping with a little 5hp on the back.
