Fridge Vent covers

Not had either although when we were in France this year there was a little street market selling horse meat, I took pictures but didn't title them, I was up for it as the horse is already dead buy head chef wasn't up for cooking and eating it.

She was the same when she bought half a pig's head in Burnley market a few weeks ago £3, I gave it a go, the crackling was excellent and the meat cooked well in the air fryer.

Cutting it up wasn't the best thing I've had to do to get food inside me though, bugger nearly bit me.

Anyone know where ill get some of these. Been reading up on them and its probably something we should have done on old Hank 1 to stop all the crud fouling up the jets and flue over winter but apparently they also should be used below 8c which of course it will be when we are away over winter. Some say just the bottom one is needed for use on hookup. I gather when its cold the fridge can struggle to keep stuff cold (I know its sounds daft) without the vents on.

Are they a standard fit size does anyone know? Best place to find them?

I reckon if you remove them you could then stick a load of Cava corks on the back to achieve the same outcome.😟

Believe me. This morning until Wooie found the right ones I was thinking along those lines. Wondering what I had in the garage to make some. Would have been fun.

Cardboard from a cereal box?

I was going to say "this could turn into a very long thread" but I guess with 5 pages already on fridge vents it can only be a Bazza thread.😏

Yep! One Christmas about ten years ago on the lonely field on Flamborough head with the north sea gales whistling through the fridge vents on the old van I did exactly that. They lasted about 30 seconds though but I think I upgraded to wine carrier cardboard stuck on with duct tape which were great. The Donkeys eventually ate those though but I bet they would have eaten fifty quid proper Dometic covers also. However I think when I sold the van in May this year there was still some residue on the vent edges from the duct tape so don't listen to Kev.

I'm still sure the top one is incorrect, if there is fridge flue behind there surely it would discolour over time

the clip picture looks perfectly right to me.
Kev, the top vent was like mine and the bottom vent goes full width.

The flue is metal and is behind the small piece on the right which is a seperate section.

If the fridge is running correctly it does not discolour the plastic, mine was over 17 years old when i sold it and the colour along with the rest of the fridge vent covers were only slightly different ( a little more cream than white ) from when it was new due to its age and the sun.

Glad to be of assistance :)

I`d have done it earlier but i`ve got my hands full at the moment so that``s why i posted just using the Ebay item number and not a link.

On the laptop it`s easy but for the life of me i cannot work out how to take a link from my Andriod phones Ebay app and put it in a post on here 🤯🥵

The item number was ideal cheers. I searched all over ebay but I couldnt find the bloody things. Maybe I got confused on all the model numbers. Anyway ordered now so thanks again.

3) Personally I can't work out why these vent covers are supposed to make the fridge work better.
It's related to how Ammonia based absorbtion refrigeration systems operate ....
Unlike compressor based systems
Absorbtion systems have a relatively narrow band of temperatures where it operates at maximum efficiency
Too cold and the ammonia mix just doesn't cycle effectively as it relies on heat input from the burner to actually push refrigerant around the circuit ...
So you've proportionally lose heat input from the burner ...
Then the 'condensor' coil looses heat too efficiently and the whole absorbtion process slows down ....

Compressor based systems (especially aircon systems)are much more tolerant to low temps (especially systems with head pressure control and electronic expansion devices let alone hot gas bypass and full defrost systems )

AHA, at last a sensible explanation, Thank you.
Righteeho, cling film to the rescue.

Brilliant! Thanks

Purchased. However I did it through the Brownhills site as they also had one of those window clothes dryers so I can give that to Michelle as a Christmas present.
Always thinking of someone else , bless
