Fridge Vent covers

I never used the pressure washer on the moho. Worried about washing sealant out.

Whta do others think on the subject.

I never would either. I don't trust these cleaning companies either. Had one come out and do our last van. We went off for the afternoon and left them to it. Looked ok on return but a few weeks later on a trip to the Scottish isles we had sprung a leak around the awning area. Not sure it was related but I bet it was. Pretty sure they used one despite me telling them to stay away from any seals etc. The old Kontiki was an absolute nightmare to clean as the GRP was rough and trapped dirt. The roof was slatted and rough like a golf ball. Impossible to clean. The new one looks much easier and when I can be arsed to clean it we will find out.

Actually. That post above about the flue got me thinking. Where is the fridge exhaust on this van?

My understanding is that the fridge exhaust is the top vent.

Convection ensures that Cool air is drawn in the bottom vent and hot air and fumes leave via the top vent.

Fitting fans to pull air in the bottom or push heat and fumes out of the top in the top increase the flow and makes thus improves cooling during hot weather.

4) the reason your jets get blocked every year with muck and rust isn't exactly to do with the fridge being old. The rust comes from the steel 'chimney' immediately above the flame which emits water vapour as well as the burnt gases. If you dismantle the chimney and burner and scrub out the inside with a wire bottle brush it should last several years before needing doing again. If the chimney is that badly corroded that it needs cleaning out every year, get a new chimney and flue assembly.

I thought the "Chimney" was for the heating and that the fridge exhausted via the top vent.

My current van has central heating and no chimney.

Buyer be aware there are 2 types of fittings one you twist like a screw the other you slide a clip up and down to lift of the grill so check before you order yours look like the slide one.
And two colours white and cream I remember, we each bought the wrong colour and haven't meet up for the swap yet!!🤔😕

I am pretty sure the vents in this video below are identical to mine (Swift). I think my vents are LS200

The product I think I want is the Dometic WA 120/130 winter cover set which is this one. So these are the ones with the turning locks you use keys or a penny to lock into place. I hope they stay in place at 70 mph mind.

Anyone know where ill get some of these. Been reading up on them and its probably something we should have done on old Hank 1 to stop all the crud fouling up the jets and flue over winter but apparently they also should be used below 8c which of course it will be when we are away over winter. Some say just the bottom one is needed for use on hookup. I gather when its cold the fridge can struggle to keep stuff cold (I know its sounds daft) without the vents on.

Are they a standard fit size does anyone know? Best place to find them?

More than likely on the shelf at many caravan dealers. U don't have to use both together in not so cold conditions.

In this day and age with the way people are so we don`t get threatened with legal action we should also say that black are available as well.

Urghh. Dont think I want black. Not being Raaaaacist! :D

This has confused the hell out of me as they are two different sizes as are the ones in my link I discovered yesterday. The two in the video I posted earlier above are the same size and fit right across the grills of both leaving a small gap at the bottom. I think the shorter width wise one in your link is to go on the top and leaves a gap where I presume the fridge exhaust is but I dont want a gap. The main reason for me to get them was to cover the fridge exhaust which is where all the crap gets in over winter and gunks up the jets. Least thats what happened on my old van. Why is everything motorhome related a right PIA? Grrrr!

**** Barry, just drive the van to a decent dealer and ask what you need, we're on page 3 already for the sake of a couple of fridge vents, it isn't that hard, well for the rest of us it isn't.

Called all three, they dont have them.

I meant to just go and let them.look at the van and advise, you can then either order or buy online.

Whats the point of that? I know which ones I need and none of them have them. I suspect ill have to buy two bottom ones. Ill ring round a few dealers next week. Maybe Oleary might have some but his site is crap.

Without reading back through it all Barry...

Have you tried Magnums?

Might be worth a call to see if they have yours.

Yes they have that same set at a pretty good price. I found them yesterday but again they are different sizes. I am starting to wonder if the video I posted from the expert is actually wrong and maybe these are the ones you need. If they don't cover the exhaust vent I might not bother getting them as for me that was the main reason of getting them. Our old fridge worked perfectly well on hookup in all temperatures.

Magnum are good people to speak to Barry, I've had loads of stuff from them and they are really helpful.

Try giving them a ring?
