Forum loyalty

I just caught the tail end of all that stuff. Never had any experience on internet prior to reading some stuff on here. I was just getting used to sending a text message. Then the internet emails forums all came pretty quick I had no internet savvy or as they say etiquette. I wrote in capitals until some one said why are you shouting all the time. I joined in with the debates pretty quick but in my world if you thought someone was a tosser you told them straight up without thinking about it. It took me a while to settle in but I’m sure I was blocked by a couple of the folk mentioned above for telling them to go see a duck. I now get it and think it takes all sorts to make this work. I miss some of the heated debates.

I think its easy to forget in a two dimensional non face to face forum just how other people may react to what you are saying or how you speak to them online or that perhaps they are not used to online social media forums. There were some right humdingers on here but I think its about right now. Ill hold my hands up as someone who has a big gob and got stuck into some right old arguments and especially over politics in the past on here. I think now that was a mistake. I like the forum better now than ever. I sometimes have to bite my lip but I think its better this way. Political stuff still comes up but its nice to see the members seem to be able to police themselves these days.
 
I remember the Wintonian 'discussions' from years back when i was still at work, and John H. Rab knows Applecross and a mutual friend i was at school with who sadly drowned in a fishing accident. Just getting out and about again myself after some medical issues, so should be tuning in more now.

I thought he was just silly and funny all that sectarian crap is a form of self defence if you grew up in Glasgow living every day with the unwashed the bullies and the bigots he was a lightweight to some up here Glasgow dose that to people the Glasgow Irish from both sides of the cloth most never been outside the city and hold opinions on Irish politics and live there lives through history they don’t even understand.

i had a couple of run ins with Wintonian ,but i only pulled him up on a particular spelling because i knew he'd have a go at anyone else who did the same .
main reason i like this forum is that everybody i've met is surprisingly homely , and that makes me feel quite pretty .
but i wouln't normally make fun of someone's spelling or grammar .unless they had shown themselves to be a member of the grammarpolice .
 
This is the only MH forum I ever use. I was put off the sister site very early on as it seemed too formal, but it was never meant to be a bit of a free for all like here. On here usually the flouncers quickly flounce.
One thing about Wint was he had the best serviced fridge this side of Christendom. It seemed like he was doing it every other month. Many come and forgotten, but not him.

I remember the famous DerekfaeBerwick who wound up a few people and they stated that they had put him on their ignore list.

Derek said "I bet they have a little peek though" and I reckon he was right. Another very clever man and it wasn't wise to try and get the better of him because he was just too sharp.
