<<<Fair use amount
If your domestic data allowance is greater than 50GB, a fair usage policy of 50GB whilst roaming in our Europe Zone will apply (i.e. you can use up to 50GB
from your allowance while roaming). Once you’ve used your fair use policy amount when roaming, we will notify you and surcharges will apply to continue
using data when roaming in our Europe Zone.>>>
However the plan at £21 monthly is cheaper than Popit 100GB (£25) and the EU allowance twice as much.
There is a ‘stable links’ (with UK) stipulation for 2 months in 4 being in the UK, however you can provide ‘evidence’ of UK residence to get round this. But what and how not indicated. No clear stipulation on total months in the year in UK/EU. It seems the only way to contact them if not an existing customer is by an 0800 number, so for me I’d have to wait a month for return to UK. By when according to Sod’s Law the offer will doubtless have expired! If anyone rings and finds out in the meantime I’d be grateful to hear. Also check what the maximum roaming period is. Some are 60 days.
All these reductions in roaming allowances appear to be coming from the main operators , EE etc .
Haven't seen any link to ****** rules .
Is all this actually caused by ****** ?

Good question, but I don't know the answer.
My guess? it's quite likely to be pure and simple profiteering.
Inclined to agree with Marie as I haven't seen any evidence.Yes for us at least.

Natural assumption would be B.....(apologies for writing whole bad word) .
Any link Barry ?

Cheers for that . Confirms my predujices !Its well documented. In 2017 an EU directive abolished roaming charges across the EU so we got three years without roaming charges. When we finally left we lost that.
It seems that some (all?) operators in the EU also operate 'fair use' policies, so it's not just the B word causing this.Yes for us at least.
And if you actually read that you will see that it allows 'fair use' policies. Its well documented. In 2017 an EU directive abolished roaming charges across the EU so we got three years without roaming charges. When we finally left we lost that.
But fair use is , mostly , 25Gb . Ok for some people but not for myself and many othersAnd if you actually read that you will see that it allows 'fair use' policies.

Since the end of the ****** transition period (1 January 2021), there has been no obligation on UK mobile operators to guarantee surcharge-free roaming across the European Economic Area (EEA).
Does appear to be down to the operators
So they could allow roaming if they were so inclined ?Yes. End of transition period. We were properly out of the EU so "our" providers could do what they want and thats when the roaming charges crept back in.
Many EU operators have similar 'fair use' policies to those in UK, it's part of EU regulations. Here is the actual info from the EU. So you don't remember us scrabbling around for years trying to find ways to connect abroad and then finally in 2017 it was no longer a worry? We could use our UK connections in the EU just like we could here, for three years or so at least? Yes there were always fair usage policies but no limits other than the length of time you could use it out of the UK but that wasnt always enforced. Now since 2020/21 when we finally left we are back to square one. It was big news. Well it was to us motorhomers who spent a lot of time out of the UK.
