Driving in London

I wonder if they will come back to me with a message saying that I hadn't been in the Congestion Charge zone so were giving a refund?

I think maybe not!
And pigs might fly.
You cannot miss it if you go into the congestion charge as there are will be a big letter C painted on the road as well as the sign post, plus a few warning sings before you get to it telling you how far off you are,
Plus your sat nav will tell you that your route involves tolls

If you have a google phone go on maps on the left side theres 3 lines in the top corner tap and look up time line

Put date in . Looks like this and just zoom in

Well you say that but two years ago I went from the M25 North, through the Blackwall tunnel and right down through Greenwich and up onto Black Heath, my old stamping ground as a kid. Then after parking up for a couple of hours for lunch and a snooze in the middle of the heath got onto the south circular at Catford and round that to Cobham where I went to School and a couple of weeks later Transport for London wrote to me to tell me that if I did it again , I MIGHT have to pay the LEZ charges. Nice of them I thought! Might do it again IF the chance presents itself to see what happens. I really enjoyed it.

Thankfully we`ve no reason to drive in London now our son has moved back up here from where he used to live in Baltic Wharf at the side of Tower Bridge.

We used to stay on CAMC Abbey Wood and catch the bus and or train in but i now see that it falls within the zone o_O

Wifey and daughter going down to Kensington soon for the London Dolls House Showcase but they are going down by train ( return tickets booked and paid for but what a palavar that was 🤬🤬 ) and staying in a hotel in Kensington.

2022 abby wood is outside LEZ !. TFL want to exstend it to M25 but that out of there remit. At this time .
And is only for old diesels befor Eco not add blue . and not petrol any age.

Congestion zone all vehicles. Tower bridge / Tower bridge road is the inner ring road so no charge there .the Congestion zone starts on the othere side of it. all side roads included.

If you can afford the parking and have one of the permited vehicles you can drive up to Euston rd north , Vauxhall bridge / Victoria West., and Kennington lane south. A3204

There the biggest bit is north of the river Thames.

I was under the impression that the area you mention was the ULEZ and the CAMC Abbey Wood was in the LEZ as per the CAMC website.

Please note: this Club campsite is situated within the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) which means you may need to pay a fee based on your vehicle's emissions, age and weight. The best way to find out is to use the Transport for London Low Emission Zone Checker. To avoid any late payment penalties, it's best to set up an Auto Pay account before you travel and then the appropriate payment is taken automatically when you drive into the zone.

I hope I haven't Mark. LEZ for vehicles over a certain weight and age determines the charge?

Yes, but charge starts at near enough 1.2 tonnes and goes from there.
Biggest difference I think is LEZ is for diesels, and mainly for commercials or vehicles based on a commercial, which is why MH's, Land Rovers are included. Doesn't matter if it is a private vehicle.

ULEZ includes all types of vehicles, scooter onwards, and includes petrols. But the compliant dates are different for petrol and diesel.

I was in Julie's little Peugot 207 Mark which I think weighs slightly less than me! So I reckon I've covered it.

Mines under 3.5 tons most days

Yes your right the ulez is inside but not counting the south and north circular roads. Go Inside with wrong vehicle = £12.50 per day but only when moving ! lol. oh and Christmas day is free

But abby wood camp site is out side this area. Lez no cost to me at this time.as not hgv.

I think that zone is in expansion area . but for now only HGV over 3.5 ton . Don't know that charge / cost befor
Is that £ 12.50 ontop of the other £ 12.50 or 2 for 1 ????

Is it right in this country you have to ask befor you go Out ie into our capital with a vehicle ?...

F#CK that. Fine me !

This is my charge for our motohome going to and from Abbey Wood so it`s double, 1 day in at 1 day out and the end of our stay.

The big red letter "C" is all good and well if traffic volume allow one to see the sign. Most of us have experienced that inability to read the motorway sign due to high suded vehicles & generally London is rammed with them in a highly congested traffic flow; adding to that, the inconsiderate drivers who refuse to let others filter & the unfamiliarity with city traffic conditions, it is highly probable that someone will be caught out & receive a fine....... I did & will never drive in London again.
