Dometic woes, hinge prices rediculous! I think the whole design is iffy, I've replaced a few and like tezza I've araldited stainless steel plates to strengthen them, the spring in these hinges is very strong, so much so on closer inspection I found stress cracks starting in the freezer box where they are attached, I've overcome this problem by removing the spring from the hinge and fitting a couple of magnetic catches, a much better seal and no more worries about snapping hinges.
I've just been looking at the setup for the bloody flap, the flap itself is well engineered I think, but the part that fastens to the underside of the freezer box is just one screw and this is the weak point and snaps right there.
The other side fits into a perfect slot with two screws just keeping it in place under no strain at all, It makes me wonder if it was designed to fail so we keep buying more hinges, It could be that overbending isn't the problem but over stressing a weak point with a over strong spring, every time you open the freezer door
The spring itself is way overstrong and over-bent by about 40° or so.
