Can you combine Gaslow, Calor and an underslung LPG Tank?

If the Truma ever packs up and apparently they do it might be an option. Its the fridge thats the killer on the gas I guess as its always on and I dont fancy a compressor fridge as for our usage at times even with more solar and lithium I would have concerns it would last.
Barry I would give a 3 way fridge scrap room it would always be a compressor ever time way more efficient
Jeff, did Ure Geller form the rad on the guard?
F##k off lololol

My small fridge is 250mW a hr and lasted on test 24hrs on a lead acid 90ah battery, if in sunlight with say 200ah and solar it will be ok, winter nov dec is a dif matter..

But a true test would have to be six weeks without moving on a field in the UK. :D Also a replacement fridge for our van would be huge. Its a bigun with a freezer. A lot of power needed I would think.

Yeah after all the problems in the old van which really was old in the end I hated the bloody three way fridge. Always breaking down. I just don't think there will be a viable alternative for us. Touring maybe but not static.

The new one of course is great. At the moment.

All food for thought for further down the line. I wont rule anything out.

@RoaminRog has just replaced his large Thetford fridge (with a separate freezer) and he told me his van had sat outside for a long period over the winter with it turned on and he's had no problems with 300ah of lithium. I'm sure he used a Shoreline SL-FF215 but I'm sure he'll come on here and correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards,
Del

Sorry Barry the fe#k off was for Terry lol

I only ever had a 38ltr underslung tank and have never run out of gas.and as you can see its well protected by the alloy guard.[ATTAC H=full]142503[/ATTACH]
Tank looks good ,how long has it been on,

I'd say yes, but it would be a bit involved using T Junctions and shut off valves controlling the flow, but maybe just do a bit of forward planning away from gasless places.

Not had any heating on but used the hob and oven plus the fridge and so far only used 7litres out of a 6kg bottle

A gas fridge definitely is the killer. During moderately warm weather, without heating on, and just using the hot water boiler once per day, an 11KG bottle of Flogas (Butane) lasted us 2-3 weeks (Max) depending on how much cooking we did. When the fridge gas control valve went wrong (so I turned off the gas side of the fridge), I was amazed to find that the same sized gas bottle lasts us a couple of months, even during cold weather and using the Truma gas fire.

This is the table I use in my UK planing spread sheet.
The fridge and cooking are very similar.
The biggest usage is heating during most months.

Based on experience since 1973.

Are you sure about that?
A fridge will maybe use 250 grammes of lpg per day, which is half a litre.
A heating system is probably using an average of 2500 watts, which is about 0.36 litres per hour.
Flat out, you are looking at 6000 watts, which is almost two litres per hour.
So heating full on for half an hour will use more gas than fridge for 24 hours.

The size of an underslung is 100% Jeff, the size of cylinder is 80%. Therefore is around 30.4 lites of gas it can take so you were told correctly :)
I have a 70 litre underslung.
Empty to full it takes 56 litres.

Yes I am because the fridge is on all the time. Right now we are not using heating at all apart from heating up the water for showers which doesn't take long and when wilding we often brave it and use cold water. :D Pretty sure our fridge will use more than 250g. Its massive. We seem to use about three quarters to a litre of gas a day on average and I reckon most of that is the Fridge. If we are on hookup a single 6kg Gaslow cylinder lasts weeks if not months.
