I've even been shocked at some motorhome owners behaviour ON sites let alone when they are let off the lead ....

We must be 3 or so generations in of feral people breeding feral children ...

Sadly we live in a world of few if any consequences for people that transgress as its far easier to punish those that DO behave .

I agree & will fetch me pitch fork !.

Recycle bins on blocks round here have nappies, emptying from cat litter trays, and if we are lucky, we might go a month or two without a crackhead taking a dump in the recycle bins too, at least the others bag theirs, doesn't stop the foxes having a rummage round though.

Apparently it's standard to put waste from commodes used by the sick and disabled into household rubbish and also cat litter of course.
Street bins don't go for recycling i don't think unless stated on the bin

I’ve got to be honest and say I haven’t read the entire interpretations or official stance on the landowners decisions,
However if what has been suggested along the lines posted that a nights stay non return in 72hs is suggested…,
I honestly don’t think that’s bad

The use of the car parks to stay overnight no return within 72 hrs is the policy at present it is that policy they will take away so no overnight parking at all on the car parks mentioned.

Completely self-inflicted and the reason why we stopped going up to Scotland.

But Scotland offers more and far better opportunities for us than any other part of the U.K. we travel all over Scotland and rarely have any issues Graham. Most who come up here head up the west coast, believing that Scotland has nothing else to offer. We have some of the most forward thinking local authorities up here who are doing their bit on our behalf. Highland council have done so much good in the past few years, but the problems are manifold,

First roughly 20% of the vans up here are rented from all parts of the U.K., and those using them are ignorant of our standards, this alone creates many issues.

Second a large proportion come from Europe where much better provision is made. They come here ignorant of the comparative lack of facilities, and sadly end up resorting to doing things they would never have to do on the continent.

Lastly there are simply to many who head for the hotspots in high season overwhelming what facilities have been put in place.

But for all of the above I think we should be thanking some of our local councils who have done so much good work up here on our behalf, and I include Highland council.
We are off to the outer Hebrides in April, and the amount of elsan points that have been put in in the past five years is quite remarkable.

Scotland has much to offer if you apply common sense and respect our environmental issues. I can think of no other part of the U.K. which offers better facilities, and more opportunities for us, and with far less restrictions than those imposed in England and Wales. And things will improve as the years move on, every month new Aires are springing up, and more elsan points are being provided.

I didn’t realise that ‘Any Council owned property’ gave us ‘Rights’ to use irrespective of the conditions applied to that property .
I thought that anyone could use council owned properties ‘in compliance’ with the conditions applied .

I agree Bill but the last 2 trips to Scotland during the staycation period were completely off the scale with the stupidity, arrogance and general behaviour of the " rental brigade ".

It wasn`t just restricted to Scotland either because we also encountered them at CAMC Cheltenham racecourse when a group of 4 rented motorhomes all turned up together and ran amok when they found out they couldn`t access the bars on the racecourse.

99.9% of the offenders were probably the lunatics that normally wreak havoc in the Spanish / EU resorts that had just thrown some money at either buying or renting one.

Our days of going abroad ended when we got the travel insurance renewals following Shirley`s diagnosis because we simply could not afford the eye-watering 4 figure sums they were asking for.

Having had many, many, many years of fantastic trips around Scotland and its islands we started going back and soon wish we hadn`t bothered, it was horrendous and after putting the first return problems down to " it can happen " we cut short our last trip that was going to be a good 5 - 6 weeks at the end of the first week.

We traveled up to Orkney and back last June taking just over 2 weeks. We're lucky enough to be going to do it again this summer (barring any unforeseen circumstances).

We went in June. The weather was fab (well, mostly - certainly in Orkney!), there was hardly anyone there and loads of overnight park-up spots - both free and paid for.

Granted we didn't go all the way to the north and west, but we did travel as far west as Tongue and then cut back down south.

Graham I don’t understand this sorry, and I am realy sorry to hear about the travel insurance. But so far this year we have had three trips, two to the borders, and just back from Fife. Nothing to report apart from near empty car parks, welcoming locals, and some crap weather. Scotland is head and shoulders the best part of our country for wc, I standbye every word I posted. But just use common sense. Avoid the NC 500, Skye, and the other honeypots in summer, and believe me there are loads of other fantastic places to park up. I didn't mean it gave us the right to use irrespective of conditions. That's why I said kind of. What I meant was that maybe they should take the needs of all road users into consideration.....just a thought
