Curious if anyone has overnighted at Gynn Square in Blackpool, close to North Pier?
The sign - photograph below - says that Overnight Camping/Sleeping is prohibited, but given the number of Motorhomes parked up that were on Levellers, it looked pretty clear (IMO) that it was being used as a 'Aire'.

I found it a little amusing that for the 24 hour parking rate, a Motorhome is actually cheaper to park than a car.

No chance I'd park in that festering cack hole EVEN if they payed me £12.50 to do so ....

I'd ACTUALLY rather stop in Morecombe than Blackpool ...
And that's saying something

We live not far from there and there are often many motorhomes on the Gynn Square car park. Certainly handy for the tram.
Gf said about going to see the illuminations this year, apparently last time I was there was as a toddler, a few months back I found the photo's my grandfather took.

Be aware that the Gynn Square car park is very sloping ( 2 ways ), is right on the main promenade road and a major roundabout junction so will be noisy.
Yup, this is why not seen so many levellers anywhere before :) noticed this as I was across the road at a tram stop.
I guess it depends a lot of time on time of year? I thought that part of the prom was pretty quiet, especially considering being a weekend and weather pretty good.

The question was really has anyone stayed there - and what was their experience in terms of maybe being told to move on as no sleeping? If that was a goer, than it would be super-handy in terms of getting to the main prom, either on a tram or walking.

As far as going to Blackpool itself, if I want to go to Blackpool I really am not interested in someones predudiced opinions on the town. I arrived early Saturday Afternoon, planning on just one night but stayed an extra day as it was good weather and enjoying the bright lights and the unashamedly tackiness of the main front :D
So hence question of wondering if next time maybe use Gynn Square for a couple of nights instead?

In fact, could have happily stayed another night again except cat sitter had plans to head off in her camper - and the weather was just turning as well, so timed it just right.

We arrived on Monday, in the rain. It cleared up and turned into a nice dry evening. We bought a one day tram pass and really got our monies worth.
What surprised me was having to pay for the dogs on buses and trams.
All the locals were really helpful and friendly.
We're staying on a little CS site which is really nice, 2.5 miles from the Pleasure Beach, unfortunately we weren't aware of the updated parking rules.

Not thinking of visiting Blackpool but 10/10 for providing spaces to overnight
Exactly, that’s what deserves praise.
Whether you like Blackpool or hate it, the fact that the council have provided limited and controlled but what seems adequate spaces is entirely laudable.
And I am pleased to hear David comments about our behaviour.

You arrived as we left. One out, one in!

Ref the tram, I made a mistake with the tickets ... I used the Blackpool Transport App to get the tickets but I didn't scroll down far enough to choose the right option and bought two single day tickets - £13.20 total, and had to setup the app and an account on the second phone to use the second ticket. I should have bought a group ticket for 2 people I later realised! Just one phone needed and would have cost £10 for two.
Good value either way, but could have saved even more :).

One of the most deprived places in England. Don’t need to walk too far from the bright lights to see real Blackpool. 😢😳

That is old school

Yes it's a mess and not good but it has to be before regeneration. Out with the old in with the new.
On my last visit to Blackpool about 8 years ago I noticed whilst in the beech side the council had made a lot of improvements making things look much better. But in the other side where the shops and the hotels where it looked really run down. Hopefully things have improved by now.
But well done to the council for making us welcome.

That area most buildings are empty and boarded up ready for clearance I would think.
