Ayrshire £10 a night stopovers and other undesireable stopovers.

I just wanted to pick up on the discussion of cl sites. I too have found I have become disheartened by many WC poi's and this year used the certain well known clubs temporary sites that are organised by a local group. £10 a night just outside Kendle, same price right next to fountains Abbey and last year just outside Troon.
I am finding the peace and quiet welcome even when there can be 20 other vans in the field. I only WC on the odd nights in between.

The bargains are there if you hunt them out. I don't want to sound tight but I am when it comes to parking the van, not least of all as it mounts up after four or five months on a UK tour especially over summer. I have a mental ceiling of £20 and I want hookup for that. :D Prefer the off grid sites though. Usually plenty of space, cheaper and generally quieter. I was amazed how quiet the CL's were in Devon over the summer holidays. Even the one we used once with hookup only had one other van on it. Some of our favourites have gone now though sadly. Europe next year though and probably the next few years. Its time!!! :D

Ayrshire has introduced a £10 a night overnight parkover in some locations. With a text confirmation its £10.20.
At Brassarie beach park well away from the entrance due to numerous cars with flashing internal lights, or beam full on near entrance. once it gets dark....guess why!
Traffic noise starts at 05.20 with big lorries and buses. No trees to buffer sound.
Ayr. 'Boy racers' maybe girls too in and out of dsignated 'motorhome' spaces and the adjoining car park. Its no different to 20 year ago with this nuisance. So police don't bother here with anti social behaviour. Its not worth the £10 to be disturbed like this.
Irvine: At the point where river meets the sea, Every morning, there is an emptying of bins and a special machine to sweep up the debris of the night before just thrown from vehicles of the 'boy racers' etc. Cans, pizza boxes etc. Yet there is a camera above the rescue building recording everything 24 hrs. Why then, has this footage not been inspected by police and the people leaving litter and causing distress to others due to their behaviour prosecuted? Police failure once agin! Make an example of a few and trouble will stop. I do not reccomend either place for a quiet restful night.
Another to avoid is the one mid bay at Ardrossan! Spend a fiver in the secure harbour. Not pretty, but safe!
Police? what police? Have you seen one?

The following night I paid my £10 for Ayr Esplanade thinking that as an area had been fenced off for overnighters from the main car park in front of Ayr India restaurant, that we would be freee from 'boy racers' and the like.
During the day, the police visited the big car park many times.
At about 5pmish they came along the esplanade and drove along the road behind the green area to rear of carparks.
Not long afterwards, cars with loud exhausts were to be heard along the esplanade and turning round at round about near entrance to overnight stay area.
Just before dark the cars were now in full flow back and fore and now started to circle the overnighters just like in a western, indians going round the wagons. A mobile 'burger stall' had arrived with loud generator and orange flashing lights and parked in the overnighters area.
To many overnighters it was alarming, distressing and very unsettling and many felt intimidated and were frightened.
To cut this short, I will try to post just 2 videos. Many of us left. Just before I left a police car came round, in convoy, about a dozen racers/cruisers in front and similar behind. It was a farce! An overnighter questioned the police about their non action and was told that they couldn't do anything as the racers/cruisers weren't doing anything wrong and noise from mobile eatery wasn't wrong. Shame on you Ayrshire police.
I can't attach the two videos......

Sounds dreadful. You would probably have to upload the videos to YouTube and put a link in the thread.

It was horrendous! Thank you for the suggestion but I'm not that experienced. I wonder if one of the moderators could contact me so that I could send them the 2 videos so they could place them here please?

The only way I can think of to do it with videos usually being quite large in size would be to use the wetransfer site. This allows you to send large files to anyone via their email address. You will need to create an account either with an email address or sign in with your google account or facebook if you have one but its safe to use. Ill PM you my email address and if you send them to me ill upload them to youtube. Don't worry if its too much hassle. Just a thought.

As I said previously on the thread. I would avoid both Irvine and Ayr, particularly at the weekends. You may be lucky and spend a good night, but they both have a poor reputation for overnighting. There are plenty of other nice spots in Ayrshire.

Similar to what we had recently down in Workington, mob rule by wankers.

I click it and it doesn't do anything Tom.
When I click on it (using my laptop, which is my default device for visiting fora), it opens a draft email in my email client, with the "To" field populated.

Here are the two videos you took merged. See what you mean. Not somewhere I would want to stay.

Pretty wanky behaviour but they're young and daft . Burger van probably what draws them in or vice versa ?
Send the videos to the appropriate council person .
Wouldn't see it as a huge problem IF I wanted to go there . But may well kill the aire for most
