Portugal warns device owned by 33 million UK tourists 'is illegal'
The popularity of dash cams has surged in recent years as drivers look to protect themselves on the road
The day will eventually arrive when dash cams come as standard with all new car sales within Europe.
Portugal and those other countries banning them is just pure stupid!
Esp. as some sources say there is no law on owning a dashcam, just a law of recording.Interesting that Skoda warned: "Portugal has the strictest approach: you're not even allowed to own a dashcam! So you can expect the police to give you a hard time even if they find a dashcam on a seat in your car, in the glove compartment or in the boot."

Handy in a bump, ins co and police ask for footage these days.Don’t have a dash cam and don’t agree with them tbh, my car has all around cameras but they are turned off except for parking.
Not always, when my neighbour drove out of a side junction into another car, insurance right off on both cars, the police weren't interested, after being called to the scene. They said no injuries, so nothing for us to be involved with. Dash cam in middle of his windscreen ( probably blocking his view too!)Handy in a bump, ins co and police ask for footage these days.
But it wasThe presence of a dashcam gives some protection against the assumption that "it was the wrinkly old farts fault"
